They are in a tough spot communication-wise. It does feel as though the community as a whole is clamoring for some nugget of information on where they're wanting to take EDO. They've given these vague promises of exciting new content but have been pretty silent since. In my opinion, to improve communication they would need to step out on a limb and offer a hint of what this new, exciting content might be. They would need to fill these large gaps of silence with just a nugget of something to keep the community interested and excited. Saying "we can't wait to share something exciting" isn't the same as saying something vague like "get your rifles ready!". Get my rifle ready for what? Are they changing on-foot combat? Are we getting the thargoid foot soldiers that people have been talking about? It would create excitement that I think this community needs. Some good points yourself there as well.
I’d imagine you’re right about FD still being a bit on edge from the initial EDO release. I think there’s a whole load of other stuff going on as well, and what we’re experiencing is the cumulative effects.
Anyway, as we’re having a sensible conversation, something I think that would be interesting to consider in more detail is if we assume that my assertion in the previous post is accurate, then how could FD improve their communication?
It illustrates the problem with a lot of the more general simplistic suggestions. What ever FD communicate will be taken in different ways by different people depending on their degree of expectation alignment. Are there ways they could communicate that would account for that and work well in practicality?
I'm not sure if you're familiar with NMS updates from Hello Games, but when an update is coming out Sean Murray tweets a single emoji that somehow references the update. Most recently was the jolly roger flag and the community goes crazy with speculation. The NMS YouTubers put out video after video of speculation on what might be included and the community excitement and activity are noticeably higher, just from an emoji.
