Dear FDev!
Please make an option to see the temperature not only in Kelvin but also in Celsius.
Thank you!

How close to absolute zero is -253 celsius?Good idea, I don't mind Kelvin but in Celsius its instant visualisation for me too CMDR!
-253°C is 20.15 KHow close to absolute zero is -253 celsius?
I think it was a rhetorical question regarding the argument that Celsius would be instant visualisation-253°C is 20.15 K
I don't really understand why this is a problem for you? You'd use the one that's right for you. That's what this setting is for. It's just that it comes down to the fact that if you have Celsius, a certain country will want Farenheit and that quite frankly would be an abomination.
I'm part joking, but it's the use of SI units that's the thing here. The game is trying to be as scientifically accurate as making sure you still have a fun game at the end of it will allow. The standard format scientists use for measuring temperature in space is Kelvin, which is why that's the only one used. It's all meant to feel like what you're looking at is a real representation of how a galaxy map and system maps would actually be put together if we had EDs technology now.I don't really understand why this is a problem for you? You'd use the one that's right for you. That's what this setting is for.
I don't think it would take a lot of development resources to do this simple setting.
I am not asking you to drop it the Kelvin. Just at least put it brackets how many degrees Celsius we are talking about.
I see 770 Kelvin above, for example, and I take it as completely meaningless. But when I see next to it that 770 Kelvin is 497 degrees Celsius, I am more surprised.
While the pretty much only scientifically used scale is Kelvin, I don't think it's unreasonable for a game to offer the option of displaying the other widely temperature scales (Fahrenreit and Celsius).
This could be a pretty simple toggle in the game options - with Kevin selected as default so the game remains completely unchanged for those who already prefer it.
Possible to be simple to add that *() - it will not help at all, but it will increase the confusion level.
Two people speaking about the same planet, one mentioning F other C - they will have a hard time.
Keeping everything in a single measurement unit is the only way to have a plain common language.
*(although i would not count on that - nothing seems to be easy when modifying the way stuff is displayed - just remember the bounties displayed in the transaction panel and in the info panel in Horizons)
Just minus 273. It's easier than converting from Fahrenheit to Celius. Besides, if you add celsius you then have to add a Fahrenheit option. That's understandable, but not everyone can imagine how many degrees Celsius xy Kelvin is around. If nothing else it could be shown in brackets.
Most of the players are not astronomers and we don't have a calculator to calculate that. But if this displayed, there is something to compare the wildly temperatures outside with.
Technically speaking, only 5 countries in the world use Farenheit over Celsius. And only one of them is actually big enough to be of significance. We will have Kelvin for us, Celsius for Europeans and Fahrenheit for Americans all in a long line, all you need to remember is freezing point of water (on earth) is 273.2K, Boiling point is 373.2K (on earth again) but apart from earth that probably won't be true for anywhere else in the galaxy. Of course for the weirdos we should also include the Rankine and the Réaumur. Oops lets not forget the Rømer scale, sorry Rømerians, can't leave you lot out.
It's is also displayed quite prominently in the on foot HUD. And to your comment re: a certain country asking for Fahrenheit, Alexa keeps me apprised of temperature quite nicely. No need for anything in game for this Yank.I doubt this would ever happen as the only time temperature is referenced like this is in the system map.
