I like bananas.
Bananas are terrible, how can you come on here and say that?! Sorry, just felt you shouldn't be left out of forum etiquette.

Maybe we'll see something like that as last hurrah before the game shuts down. Humanity wiped and joined the Guardians, Bugs reign supreme, game over.

Humanity trapped between the awakened guardians and thargoids, being slowly wiped out would be a brilliant way to spend ED's twilight.
Long live the thargoids, the true owners of the galaxy.

... I might even start a notebook to track the dates and times of this repeating suggestion. I hear that's what the cool kids do these days ;)
It would be appreciated as I have a terrible memory.
Just one request, though... make sure you respect the effort put in by hand writing the list. Spreadsheets & other copy/paste facilitators are low effort. (y)

Ups, time is moving fast. I got used to read these forum daily but while I'm now playing a Witcher 3 and I was few days off I see things didn't changed a bit. 20+ pages long thread with no CMs post and still ongoing Frontier's form of "non-communication" is selfexplaining well enough for me. I did not watched OA video yet, to me too he went to be too much negative in last year or so, but I see on myself that I tends to be more negative as positive when thinking about ED. Result is that I prefer playing other games and have fun. Imo Frontier, if they want change current course of this game development, should think deeply how to renew and/or support more "fun & interest" in this game for theirs playerbase. When you compare amount of watches for OA video (78k) and company Frameshift Live videos (4k), then one must think that current course set by Frontier is not a good one.

As I've said many times before, folks who throw around terms like "white knights" and "fanboi" (and at the other extreme, terms like "haters"), generally just mean "anyone who disagrees with or contradicts my opinion and preconceptions". And if you resort to name-calling instead of responding to a person's points, it's fair to say you've probably lost the argument.

I've had plenty of posters disagree with me, for various reasons including, but not limited to, misunderstandings, who I'd never describe as 'white knights', so that's not an assumption I can accept. It's telling that use of the phrase 'white knight' is evidently not regarded as 'name-calling', or it would be discouraged. If I were to start listing those I regarded as WNs, it would go to two, perhaps three posters before I had to start qualifying my selections, because they weren't so easy to pigeonhole, and just have a fondness for pile ons.

Maybe it's easier to generalise about 'haters'?

I'm sorry, but that looks like a poor excuse made up purely to satisfy spite.

I'd actually give him the benefit of the doubt that it's not so much 'spite', as a perhaps misjudged suggestion for a 'parting of the ways'. FDev give, and FDev taketh away, style o' fing.

There are much clearer examples of spite, directed towards other players, in the Peak protest thread.

I’m new to this but I’m quickly learning there’s pretty little point to posting opinions on forums like this unless you’re prepared to get slapped down. It’s difficult to find support or objectivity in an arena where kicks and thrills from dissecting and decrying poster’s comment is the currency and apparent joy of what is laughingly described as ’the community’. I’m not going to learn much from here. I’m not going to enjoy it here.
I have in contrast learned a lot from the likes of Obsidian Ant over the last eighteen months. I have personally found his YouTube channel to be well balanced and fair in any critique. Probably the most fair in fact. I’ve also been entertained. I was disappointed to see Hawkes go when he did, having learned a lot about the game through his channel, but I could understand why. I’m always entertained and informed by the Yamiks and Down to Earth Astronomy too. I’ve always felt that CMDR Buur was more of a company man but even his latest content has moved more toward the critical. Maybe that’s because there’s something to be critical of?
You know I’m grateful when observers and commentators are willing to recognise when the glass is half empty. There’s a lot of commentators here who seem to want to ignore anything that might be negative and only look to their glass half full. The thing is the glass can only be filled to the brim if we can recognise it was half empty to begin with. It’s only in recognising and accepting the negative that we can do anything about it and turn it into a massive positive.
Personally I’m grateful to those who are on the journey with me, walking alongside and might stop me from walking into a big pile of :poop:. There appear to be those in the community who for whatever reason don’t want to recognise the :poop: In front of them, and yet they remind me of those mad dogs you see people walking. You know the type. Let off the lead they run off like a bat out of Hell, circling, jumping and then they suddenly just stop. They’re sniffing something. Then the next thing you know they’re on their backs rolling around in it. Either way, when :poop: stinks, it stinks.
Thank you to all the Elite Dangerous content creators. You in particular Obsidian Ant. If I ever get bored of your posts I guess I could just stop watching and unfollow rather than doing whatever the hell is going on here???

See you all in the black CMDRS.
Be seeing you.

Some in the community may have invested in the stock of a listed company and therefore have a financial inducement to support that institution.

What’s going on here is pretty simple.

Instead of posting their their own thoughts and opinions, someone posted a link to a video.

It’s a silly thing to do.

‘Here’s a topic for discussion, but first… you must go and watch a 30 min (guessing) video by a content creator, because I couldn’t be bothered to actually articulate things in the original post.’

Ultimately it makes the topic of the thread about the fact there’s a video, the creator of the video and the actions of the OP in the original post.

As I said elsewhere in the thread, when OA has started threads directly himself with a written first post, these have been very different in tone, and have generally been well received and resulted in constructive discussion.

I would honestly say that the only lesson you really need to learn from the above is that a sensible and well constructed first post will result in a sensible and constructive thread, and other types of first post won’t.

Sure, there might be a bit of subtlety on top of that, but if you follow that basic principle you should be absolutely fine.

Ive got to say I used to love watching @Obsidian Ant but since the launch of Odyssey I watched him less and less - my views on the state of the game and his are poles apart at the moment. That is not to say his opinion is worthless it is just that mine is different. As our views are different I have given his videos a break. Hopefully as more content comes along our views will coincide once again but for now I wish him well!

My like isn't a "I agree with what you say" vote, but rather a "I like how you said it" vote.

For me personally (as we're talking from our personal opinions anyway):
I've played for +7.5 years and over 7,300 hours. Even back when I started in October 2014, Obsidian Ant was making great videos.

I agree with so many points here, it'd be difficult to list them but for a high level:
The points Obsidian makes are fair IMHO but he is a human at the end of the day. For the nay-sayers putting him down. My question to you is this - would you rather people lie and 'let things be' or tell the truth and try to get issues resolved?

From my view, he seems to feel let down it would seem (EXACTLY HOW I FEEL), so while it's such a shame to see possibly the biggest content creator from Elite losing hope, I don't think the nay-sayers have much grounds for their dictatorship against his views. He has many years of context and evidence behind his points.

We're all entitled to our views and rather than putting his head in the sand, ignoring the situation and hoping it will all blow over or blow away (like Frontier has increasingly done for many years), at least he's trying to do something and trying to get many longer standing players view-points across. As always, he delivered his points politely and fairly.

As a whole, when did we become so bad that we stopped freedom of speech and stab the person in the back who's arguably done vast amounts for Elite and Frontier? Let the man speak, I say. I'll always gladly hear his views. Thank you @Obsidian Ant and please don't stop your Elite videos, like so many other content creators have done recently. I genuinely believe Elite needs Obsidian

I agree, we are all allowed our opinions. They should not be judged upon how much they have done for ED, or not.
The motives behind some peoples opinions are another thing - is it just 'click bait', who knows.

NLDR; (Not long, didn't read)
We are all entitled to our opinion.

I don't need an 'influencer' to form my opinion, but each unto their own.

To quote Bill Gates (not my favorite person in the world, but he does know a thing or two):

- “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.”

- “It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.”

- “We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.”

Thank you. Yep, completely agree. I don't use social media for exactly that reason.

Very wise words o7
