Not sure what you mean by change.

perhaps he realized that dreams were not destined to come true, and began to look at the game as a product without childhood dreams. the release of odyssey just showed how bad fdev (not "game") is and all expectations were flushed like down the toilet.
So like God of war says: Keep your expectations low and you will never be disappointed.
I lost my WOW effect on third month of playing.
Yesterday I watched the official stream about 10 minutes. It was the moment when the bearded bald man scanned the system with fss and he was so bad at it. That's why I stopped stream.

I wonder why some still seem to be having a dig at OA when Arthur specifically said not to do so.

If OA‘s only motivation is getting more clicks, then, as he says himself, he’d be sticking to MSFS which is far more popular.
Let me start by repeating that I don't like the OA bashing, just in case someone wants me to be part of his flame war...

But I guess that these people aren't Arthur's minions and therefore don't follow his orders. I know that this goes against the white knight FDEV fanboy army narrative. ;)

By the way, Arthur also said that development continues and yet nobody believes him. 🤷‍♂️

Drama?

Ok you had me looking into his YT home page video list 😋 here is the result for his videos marked as 4 months or less (I.e. roughly 2022).

There is an extreme view outlier video there for the one about a volcano in MSFS where he got 594k views apparently. I have taken the figures with and without the top outliers of each game for comparison. Note in both cases Elite seems to be on top of MSFS for views, especially if we don’t count extreme outliers where Elite would double MSFS views.

OA seems to have done well diversifying but unless I made a counting mistake (which is quite possible) your statement just does not seem to be correct at least in 2022 so far as Elite is a very significant part of the clicks he gets.

Also, I havent subdivided the “other videos” in sub categories but as you can see below I suspect Elite is probably still (at least in 2022 so far) among the top sources of views overall for him.

Views in thousands.

Interesting figures, I guess OA still has a loyal following of those interested in Elite.

The figures do show that OA is no longer an Elite channel, but a channel with Elite content. I guess that's why Frontier still fete OA as he seems to be able to reach those that Frontier streams do not.

Indeed. The channel has diversified well. Although Elite still seems to be among the top topic sources for views there (and therefore its “doom” click baiting probably playing a significant role). Just remember that these figures are only a 4 months snap shot. Things were probably different in the past and can still change a lot in the future.

I guess one person's click bait is another's reasonable comment on the lack of visible activity of Frontier in regards to ED.

And I guess all of us on here think their communication is appalling, blowing hot and cold, so you never know where you are with them.
So after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, it transpires that you also agree with the premise of OA's video topic ("Frontier - what the HECK is going on with Elite Dangerous?").

It's cool to see so much support for the notion that FDev would do well to improve their communications about Elite's ongoing development, and if we're lucky it'll effect some change thanks to the CMs highlighting such popular and passionate discussions (videos, Reddits, Twitters, forums, etc) to the FDev Top Brass.

I'm glad there's a YT video about how bad FDev's comms is. Otherwise I'd think everything was fine. I look forward to FDev's immediate and comprehensive response.

Anyway, at least it's provided 38 pages (so far) worth of entertainment to the form forum.

Heh. Well, according to your own views on what constitutes clickbait it would seem even OA agrees it actually is:

I thought that click bait implies an element of falsification in the title in relation to the actual content.

Also: Is Elite a sinking ship? Quite probably not.

Personally I don’t have any issues in OA using this kind of click bait to help views in some of his Elite videos. It is his business after all. But it shouldn’t be too hard for us all to just acknowledge it and move on.

It is a bit of a shame that those who defend so adamantly OA critiques to FDEV feel obligated to stop any critiques to OA. Fair is fair no? Those also have its place and I am sure they are a valuable source of feedback for OA too. Pretty sure OA can take it. Up to us then to decide if we want to watch his content or not anyways. I just prefer to watch other Elite content 🤷‍♂️

I remember when he was the darling of the community, and the forum mods/fdev ignored the rules regarding asking for money when his computer mysteriously burst into flames when a new graphics card had come out, and they allowed a go fund me type campaign to help set him up with a new rig, as well as FDev employees openly throwing money at him.

Anyone who objected ate a rather healthy time out ban.

How things have changed.
