ObsidianAnt: Frontier - What The HECK Is Going On With Elite Dangerous?

A genuine question: Did they offer any explanation why their interaction with the community virtually stopped?
Even in this thread - which was mentioned on last night's stream - has had no comment from any of the CMs, which is odd.
Thanks Zac and welcome back :)

We're now in the second week of April, with little idea of how the game is being developed in 2022 (past Update 11 and a cheeky nod towards Update 12). Please can you tell us why the Monthly Dev Update reports and Top 20 Issues reports haven't resumed (after they stopped late last year), and when you expect them to resume again?

With the devteam working on the live service game, isn't there interesting information to share about their progress on improvements, resolving issues, and bug fixes?

Cheers for the weekly posts and livestreams too (y)
Unfortunately, still no explanation, but one will continue trying.

If you want to contest moderation decisions you can email someone - I forget who, but the mods will remember.
I did this awhile back, and in fairness to the mods, I do feel the issue I was personally concerned about has improved considerably since then.

In fact, I feel a touch guilty because I've been riding close to the line in some of my more recent posts, and I should probably scale back and be more "by the book" in what I post. The mods have been very gracious, so I'll try to make their job easier, at least with my posts.

Yea, because Frontier has never given bad news or let the community down before.

What is this supposed to convey in lieu of an objection or response? Frontier made you mad so now you don't trust them? I'm your world no one can ever atone for something that upset you?

You sat down and thought this message was important, what are you trying to do? It looks Ile a desperate bid to justify staying angry.

The "I quit over the ADS" kettle calls the pot black (again). I'd rather quit the forum (again). Give me a bounty hunting CG and I'll do just that!

NOW you people will support my cause ;)
Oh I wasn't silly enough to threaten to quit over the ADS - I'm fully cognizant of the depths of my addiction 😁

I just haven't bought ARX since then - and look, a mere 3 years later FDev have been forced to cancel console development as a direct result of my financial embargo. At this rate, in another 4-5 years theyll be FORCED to bring back the ADS.

Also - how am I not on your block list? I must try harder

'That's not what I meant'.

Ring a bell?

You're drawing a completely different picture, not 'correcting' one. My posts to you were specifically about accusing a poster of saying the forums were 'it', and then saying you didn't. I did not ('I did naaat...') refer to your opinion about OA at all.
I told you that he didn't say it literally and I said that he did say it more eloquently, what else do you need? I already told you that you misinterpreted what I meant and you still continue.

But you have illustrated a key principle of white knighting, on forums at least, of the absolute certainty that the knight's opinion is always correct, about everything, and the person disagreeing is always wrong, about everything, so even if that person didn't comment on something, it's safe to say they would have been wrong if they had.

I have no clue what you are talking about.
You may say I am wrong about that, as well, but plenty of other posters have noticed the phenomenon (and I'm not singling you out), I'm sure.
Whatever?

As far as I can tell nothing of what you just said is even remotely connected to my post. Find another victim.

Not the case I can assure you. But yes on reflection it could look like that. Sort of click bait for mods. But not my intention.

The bit at the beginning is my genuine feeling that moderation is over zealous. I think it's designed to steer the narrative by removing anything that can remotely viewed as anti FDev. I'm not anti FDev BTW, I really want ED to reach it's potential. I love the game.

The bit at the end is my appalling attempt at humour... I failed.... sorry 😞
Well, I’m more than happy to take your word for your intentions. Given that, I would suggest that the important thing is to ensure that the thoughts you wanted to give on the actual topic of the thread don’t get overshadowed by all this other stuff.

Personally I would therefore suggest just cutting the first and last paragraph from your first post, and then I think you’ll probably find there’s no problems at all with what you said. (Well, other forum members might disagree with what you said, but no problems in the sense of you not being allowed to say it.)

Anyway, it’s up to you. If you decide to do as suggested, it would also be worth considering asking for the follow on conversations that aren’t part of the conversations to be removed. I’m more than happy for mine to be removed as part of that. o7

A troll hunter needs prey, so be a nice troll now, ok?

'Prey'?

In the words of a great hunter, 'It takes no skill t' kill. What takes skill is sneakin' up close enough to a skittish doe t' touch her'.

I'm not looking to end trolls, or even catch them. That presupposes that all trolling is bad, when the fact is, to paraphrase 'House MD', everybody trolls, and it's tolerated in the right circumstances, rules that say otherwise notwithstanding.

I just tag a troll when I see one. What other people see, is up to them.

I told you that he didn't say it literally and I said that he did say it more eloquently, what else do you need? I already told you that you misinterpreted what I meant and you still continue.

I might be wrong in thinking that you told someone else that he didn't say it literally. I would have to go back to check that, which definitely feels like diminishing returns. If I'm right, though, that further illustrates the futility of continuing a conversation where you can never be mistaken.

But so far it appears that Frontier always did what they want without listening to anybody. I don't know if that's good or bad.
It’s funny, because as much as I hear this said, I’ve seen FD listen and act on what’s been said many many times.

It’s not always been good though.

A classic example I mentioned the other day in a different thread:

‘We can’t see the story related local Galnet articles for all the BGS generated ones. No one reads them anyway, just get rid of them.’

FD removes the BGS generated local Galnet articles.

‘Woah!!! Why have you removed the BGS generated Galnet articles??? They’re really important info and we use them all the time!!!’

FD reinstates the BGS generated local Galnet articles.

I mean there’s a lot that went wrong there, but the one thing they can’t be accused of in that particular instance is not listening. 😉

When you asked me if he said 'we are crap' I told you that he said it more eloquently and yet you still insist I would claim he said it literally. Despite the fact that I told you several time that it isn't the case. And you claim that I am the one who can never be mistaken... You don't even believe me when I tell you that you misinterpreted something I said. 🤷‍♂️
