So AMD launched a new CPU, well sort of new, they 3D stacked 64MB L3 Cache on top of the existing Ryzen 5800X to give us the Ryzen 5800X3D with a massive 96MB of total L3 Cache.
Its the worlds first 3D stacked X86 CPU and a last hurrah for the AM4 platform before AM5 and Zen 4 later this year.
Its an impressive CPU, equally as fast if not faster than the just released Intel 12900KS while using the fastest $500 DDR5 RAM, total cost for that CPU and RAM about $1200, 5800X3D with RAM about $600.
The point relevant here is Star Citizen loves it, especially in 3.17 with the Gen 12 API, big gains over the 5900X and by far the fastest CPU for it. AMD might just saved Star Citizen

I have a 5800X, can i just buy the L3 cache and glue in on top of my CPU to make it a 5800X3D?
That is because no sane person cares about that. I have no idea who at FD is married to whom, nor do I want to know, nor am I entitled to know. It's only weird creepers who are interested in that.
That's a rather strong statement. If I remember correctly people cared because they were concerned about nepotism which is a perfectly reasonable concern for ensuring funds are not misused in a community funded project.
It's like the people in the UK who looked into Captain Tom's daughter and what she was doing with the charity set up in his name. They're not creeping, they're ensuring nothing untowards is occurring with donations (it was).

According to CIG, only bits of their Gen 12 API are implemented so far, with many more updates required until it's fully implemented.
