Lollllll

I’d get used to that kludgy drag and drop interface if I was you :/

And all the immersion-challenging jank that comes with it.

It took them 9 years and approx 0.5bil to hit these Tier 0 stages. We have to imagine that not even CIG-magic can repeat that production phase.

That implies we’re surely well past the halfway point to the destination, with so many circles to square still… And so many Tier 0s still needing to be added. That’s a helluva lot of jank to pack away neatly into boxes…

I don't think I said I wasn't used to it, or expecting it to be around for a fair bit longer.

All I was saying is that I like the Intent of the concept as laid out there: That the intent is you have to plan, prepare and tailor your equipment/loadout and gear you bring with you to whatever you're expecting (or not) out in the black.

The post you quoted centered on the ‘arduous and kludgy' interface being just an alpha placeholder which would transmute into a much better system entirely. (Something which CIG have never stated AFAIK - they’ve just suggested that closets etc would be more 'physicalised'. It's also something CIG have very rarely achieved to date ;))

That’s why I was suggesting his expectations are pretty fanciful.

(It didn’t help, on the comedy front, that he included pre-selecting your civvy clothes for hospital visits as the example of skill & diligence ;))

(Just on a personal preference front, I’d be fine with loadout prep being a thing. Balancing the right mining gear for a hot planet, making do when your gear’s not fit for purpose etc. But the entirely 'physicalised' world that guy seems to be imagining would be absurd... I would absolutely not want to do multiple runs to my 890J to stock it with the right selection of cream slacks ;). Or to hand-deliver fresh clothes to every single hospital in Stanton...)

The physic engine in Cryengine (Bullet Physics) is not designed for things that weigh 400 tonnes, its only really for small prop objects.
(...)
So ships that weigh many tonnes don't really behave any differently to a box in gravity, so they get blown around be strong winds.
To be honest, the small object physics of CE is dated, and bad. Things are always bouncy, always jittery, and have no density. No difference in materials, rigid body simulation is laughable, no material plasticity, etc. It shows its age in these demos. And of course SC ships have also inherited from the same flaws, so a monster military gunship of several hundreds tons will just get blown by the wind and bounce away like a beach ball...

Imagine if they actually used Subsumption for tons of NPC professions, as planned…

There’d be mops inserted everywhere :/
Does he say in here, the NPC could go to a game design studio, and use the various professions to make SC and release it? I wonder if they'd vote to remove CR from media, etc, too.

I would.. try a free fly event.. if they included camping.

You need a skyrim like inventory item that spawns a tent and a space fire, no less. It should trigger your companions to do their idle range animations and go automatically start stirring the cooking pot. No less.

I've wanted this in a space game ever since because its great.

ps. Making digs at star citizen in 2022 is exactly the same as dead horse kicking elite. Let go of the need for revenge for tat against white knights and community management in both games and just have fun working on your backlog :)

I... don't think I said anywhere I was in favour of camping, so I'm not sure what your post is getting at beyond dogpiling one of the only 'positive' posts of the last few pages.
You didn't clearly express how much you despise the game and everyone involved with it, so your post shall be ridiculed, taken out of context, or if all fails, we'll just make random stuff up and pretend you said it. If you dont like it just use a disclaimer next time in which you clearly express you are one of the tribe here, you feel very negatively about the game, everyone involved is a scammer and/or cultist and anything that may seem positive is not an endorsement of the game in any way.

This all very normal and healthy by the way. Because we are not the weird cultists, they are. :)

It was a joke.

You remember those?

(Much like when Chris played a show-reel and pretended that it was a partially developed game.)

I can smell the flames of incoming retaliatory strikes from here 🤭

As Galileo observed objects of different mass do experience the same acceleration due to gravity. Although that has nothing to do with the second part of the statement.

And...she's back

"My name is Sandi Gardiner, but i changed my name to Sandi Roberts when i married Chris Roberts..."

but she conveniently forgets to mention that she didn't use her new name when she started CIG and they clearly tried to keep their marraige a secret from backers.

You won't hear anything so disparaging on Inforunners...the official Australian Sandi Gardiner/Roberts fan club ;)

Just listened to the first 2 minutes and already several gems:
  • No title at CIG. What happened to head of marketing?
  • "People havent heard from you in a long time since you stepped back from CIG" . When did CIG or her for that matter confirm that she had stepped back from her marketing responsibilities? Another option is just that I simply missed it?
Looks like a cheap attempt to finally announce and normalize the fact she has not been involved for a very long time. What about salaries etc though?

Its been known for a while. I'm not sure there was ever a public announcement about her stepping down. We noticed her absence for a while and then at one citizencon someone turned up with the title of head of marketing who wasn't Sandi.

We do know at some point she was given a seat on the board of directors of CIG. She even did some tweets about it. Maybe CR gave her some of his shares.

Regardless, she now earns money from CIG for doing nothing except (maybe) turning up to a board meetings a few times per year.

This is backer money in action (or should that be inaction?).

Sandi Gardener makes me cringe in pain for the people who actually take that game seriously. Its cruel.

After the space fallacy feature about her, note that instead of publicly denying it and claiming slander, she just vanished for a few years, only returning in the last few months?

10 years and still nothing.. isn't it time to start taking star citizen seriously now? White knights are nothing but emotional and inflammatory.. but its still going on.. this isn't a casual matter? It must be churn that keeps that project running. When all the elite content creators left it must have refuelled the coals and they're going again.

Yet just like we know frontier have put elite on maintenance, they also know that star citizen is about to go through another whatever they do drought and are trying to not see it anyway?

EDIT: It would be churn and the saftey net of the grey market is what keeps people buying ships? Without the option for people to exit gracefully from their cult fees they would have stopped? With a churn of new people wanting to get past stuff???

I mean really? Showing up to backer content still high from the night before? Really?
