Hyperdiction

Yesterday I decided to visit the 3 megaships (to listen to the complete interviews) recently mentioned on Galnet.

I went to the Salote Charm in Didio. then the INV Succession in Novas, and finally to the FNS Amphion in Sosong.

I got hyperdicted jumping into Didio and once more jumping out of Sosong. Might be fun to do if you haven't experienced a hyperdiction yet. FWIW the Thargs didn't open fire so there was no running or any fighting.

Strangely enough not all the mega ships showed on the system map, but I did find them in the nav panel.

Capital Class ships (the Fed and Imp locations) don't show on the system maps. The Alliance don't have capital class ships, so they use a megaship - which sometimes show.

I wish hyperdiction was at least a little more threatening. Right now they don't even engage if the ship is a fully equipped Thargoid hunting meta machine.

Oh I know, but there again you really kind of have to force it. Generally people aren't just carrying those around. I'd like to see them go hostile if Guardian weapons are on the ship. I also think they don't even care if you have a heart from a previous kill that should be instant rage. Considering the escalation going on it would fit even if they have been pretty forgiving in the past.

It's not anticlimatic

Imagine you are ferrying beryllium from Maia to WHN.
And you get hyperdicted alot in the Pleiades.

How fun it would be to get destroyed everysingle time and not only delayed and with some fuel wasted due to the hyperdicted jump?

Well it was my opinion that it was a bit anticlimactic, but like I said cool nevertheless.

I wouldn't argue for them to lead to certain death..

That is true. But apart from that (iirc certain Guardian modules make them hostile too), I'm not aware of a single case where hyperdiction has actually led to hostile behaviour. If you don't consider a friendly push against your ship before they fly away again as hostile. I have encountered a few Thargoids, but have never been attacked - and have never attacked any from my side, though. Strange that this behaviour has never given anyone food for thought. Or maybe not so strange after all, as far as our usual human behaviour is concerned...

Yeap, iirc the Thargoid wars were started by the Humans in the good old fashion of Shoot first, dont ask any questions until it's too late

Hmmm.... If there could be something between "every single time" and "only when you carry things to deliberately induce it" that might be the ticket.

I think in areas where Thargoid hyperdiction is possible there should be some threat even to the haulers and there should be ways to outfit and escape that threat as well. IE a chance to escape but you need a shutdown neutralizer and decent shielding. Maybe stop the mass-lock factor for a bit after the shutdown field so there is a chance for a slow ship to get away. I think in locations near active incursions they should be more likely to be hostile and in places with just a presence, far less so. Automatic random ship destruction is not ideal and most will admit that.

Had a conversation with a new guy to AX the other night. He was afraid to get involved because he thought hyperdiction after he killed a goid was then going to be hostile, like a reputation. I had to admit that yeah, that would actually be kinda cool but actually no there was absolutely no risk to a hyperdiction unless he carried meta alloy or a sensor. He asked about AX weapons.... nope.... doesn't matter. You could hear the disappointment in that from his end.

Right now hyperdiction is a cool effect that largely becomes a boring drag to just getting around after the first 4 or 5.
