Theoretical Garden Pack

Just a thought. A 4 + scenery pack theme around garden plants, props, and scenery.

I was thinking red fox, racoon, some kind of pheasant, and either a duck or swan to round things out.

In lieu of a typical exhibit animal, an option for a "butterfly hatchery" object which spawns butterfies but needs to be tended by a keeper. And/or something similar for koi.

And of course, loads of plants, planters, fountains, etc.

Would you buy a pack like this? What garden animals do you think would be better?

I actually quite like the idea, though it lacks a flagship animal. Also, the pack is heavily northern hemisphere / temperate focused making it, effectively, a NA / Europe pack.
I thought it felt very NA / European centric for the mammals, and I am very curious what animals are regarded as "garden species" world-wide. Maybe dwarf goats or chickens? Though that's more household garden/farm than botanical garden.

For the birds, the pheasant could be an Asian species like the Golden or Lady Amherst's, and then a Black Swan for Australia representation? I'd really like a duck (mallard, mandarin, muscovy?) as well, but 3 birds in a scenery pack feels like a stretch.

Koi gives Asian representation, I’d add black swan for Oceania.
I’ve suggested something similar for butterflies before and still think it’d work well. For other species it’s a bit hard - most of my thoughts go to birds (ducks, swans, geese, cranes, pheasants etc.) but maybe a freshwater turtle could work as an alternative (though most would probably be added as exhibit species)? An unexpected primate addition could be grey langur. I’m sure there are possibilities from the Middle East (where gardens have a long history) but I have to admit I don’t know what species would fit.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this pack suggestion. I'd get it of course, I'm pretty much going to get any pack for Planet Zoo except a spider/centipede pack, and it definitely would have appeal for some players, but I agree with the thought that it lacks a headliner animal. Which is sort of the point, gardens don't usually have animals that are considered uncommon or, to what the rest of the world would think, exotic animals. Raccoons and Red Foxes are in good spots on the meta list, but I'm not sure they'd be enough of a draw for the general player.

When I think if a garden I think of a flower/plant garden so I don't really think of animals. However, I think this pack is more focused on animals that can be found in the backyard of a house. I'll give it a try:

1) Raccoon
2) Armadillo
3) Red fox
4) Indian crested porcupine (not sure if this fits)
5) Any Australian spider or lizard

Uh..people?
What do you mean with "no flagship animal"?
May i remind you all, that all that a flagship has to do is to look cute or cool in a general audience?
Wheres the difference for casual players between a lynx, beaver or in this case red fox or racoon when they smile as the charismatic fun frontpage animal?
Especally as racoons and red fox have a significant presence in atleast europe, one of the main player bases for this game.
Both are present in my local wildpark and in all 20+ zoos i habe visited there was atleast one of the 2, in many both.
These animals are nowhere less charismatic or well known as the other headliners, even exceeding some of them like the sunbear easily.

I really like the idea of something like this actually. Frontier could still claim each of the butterflies is an “individual” like the exhibit animals we currently have, while allowing us users more creativity as the butterflies wouldn’t be boxed. And keepers would technically still “care for” the animals. Something like this for colorful moths and bees would also be really nice.

I’d totally be on board with a Garden Pack. It could provide us some really interesting species and useful items. Pieces/walls to build butterfly/green houses and a number of everyday gardening tools and “backstage” items (mulching boxes/bins, shovels/rakes, water hoses, etc.) Could also come with more plant species than the usual DLC/update.

As for habitat species, Frontier could bring in some much needed options that are often more closely linked with urban areas. And there’s a large variety of well-known species that fit within this category. Numerous waterfowl and galliform species, some large reptiles, and an assortment of small mammals come to mind. And since there are iconic gardens found globally, the pack could present a widespread selection like we received with the Wetlands Pack (which imo was a welcomed change).

If Frontier really wanted to outdo themselves they could even introduce our first fully aquatic species through a common garden fish, like the Asian Arowana or Koi Fish.

The Arowana isn't as good of an idea, they get rather large there. They, easily, get to the length the exhibit boxes are wide, and with the care emphasis Frontier's been going with, that's well below what sane people keeping them would be willing to do save for extremely young individuals to start growing out.

Perhaps having alternate exhibit options for some species. A small decorative pond could work well for the turtle, bullfrog, newt, and koi, just limiting what exhibit species could be in it and have the ability to "fill to water" when placing, you'd still have a care point for the pond (Most have a pump/filter thing if nothing else). Just a different visual for the basic exhibit stuff there.

Asian Arowana get up to 90cm, I.e., less than 1/4 the width of exhibit boxes. I’ve seen them kept in a couple of aquaria and they’re usually kept in smaller tanks than 16 m^2
