the real reason why no full atmosphere

It would be doable by simply limiting atmo world to areas 10-30 km from space ports. Or by placing landing spots with features and player would be given at least some nice samples of landable atmo world without all the problems related with creating an entire full atmo world. Just create 10-15 variations, a mixing script, some hand palces features, random skies et voila.

I can't see that being acceptable to a lot of players, having 10-15 variations in a galaxy with potentially billions of planets. But I do agree the issue is proceduarally generating convincing ELW is a difficult thing, probably something they are working on now if they ever hope to have them in game. SC has basically given up the procedural generation route for planets and now hand craft a lot of stuff, but that's probably acceptable because they are only planning around 100 systems, however they only have 1 system in game yet, hand crafting planets takes time.

I would personally be dissapointed if they just went with the 10-15 variations route, but I would have to see how well it worked before deciding yay or nay. I do hope they can get procedural generation working properly with thick atmosphere worlds, I will be here to see it if they do, and probably also if they don't lol!

ED Odyssey is very dependent on single-thread CPU performance. Something the PS4 CPU can never deliver. I was speaking of that something like a year ago and made an assumption that Ody will not be released on consoles. The assumption was true

Good to know, you may need to know that assumptions are not generally held in high regard though.

What are you expecting? Frontier, who upto now have only been able to deliver barren airless rocks and barren rocks with a coloured skybox, to suddenly be able to pull ELW's out of their rear ends? Stop and think for a second. Do you have any idea what doing ELW's requires? I've said this before, you're basically asking for MSFS2020 in Elite. They can't even do gas giants. You people are living in cloud oo land.
