Bug: Class 3 Fragment Cannons now fail to deploy.

According to OP, it appears to be a Horizons only bug.
Damb. Glossed over the OP. I foolishly assumed it has to do with EDO.
What in blazes did they touch and why to bork Horizons? 😡

Just leave EDH the hell alone FDev. Don't need any more of your "fixes".

Should not have been broken in the first place. No excuse for this level of fail in a seven year old, live service game. Sorry.
Bugs happen, but so should fixes (and in a timely manner). Though I am always amazed how Frontier breaks parts of the game that have nothing to do with the things they are adding. What was it that Arx broke? Sometime utterly unrelated IIRC. That is not a sign of a well-organized code base.

I still remember when Frontier somehow mixed up the X & Y on the gyroscopic headlook on PS4, a major "must have" feature for me back then. They left it broken for months, despite it obviously being a very trivial line or two of code to fix. That was my first taste of the Frontier way of doing things.... :(

I wish you all luck with this current issue, you're going to need it!

What was it that Arx broke?
To those who may not have been around- many things. My favourites were the good old fashioned not being able to log into the game at all and resetting of module priorities back to 1 whenever you jumped into a new system, so sometimes your whole ship would shutdown if you forgot and deployed hardpoints. Around that time they also introduced the Clipper ship kit, which would stop you high waking. This may have also been the start of the fighter lag bug (or was that the carrier update?).

We even have recent history of this- one of the updates also gave infinite plasma accelerator damage (practically speaking), so maybe this is to balance things?

Since this CG didn't have any immediate places to farm Odyssey bonds, they had to delay the frag cannon fix so the DLC users would still have some advantage.

So whens the last tuesday in may ok 31st..
As it now clear that EDH will never get a bug fix untill EDO is due an update, this issue will be fixed tuesday 31st of may..
As thats the last tuesday they can push out an EDO patch and push out a EDH PC and console patch at the same time...
If that breaks any thing it will be August before they are due another EDO update...

first of all: thanks OP for this thread.
while i have flown a frag courier for a very long time, and i'm still sporting a frag clipper on my (non-odyssey) bubble account (just not since this bug was introduced in update 10) plus a cutter and a crusader revolving around frags, i have learned a ton of new things from here, and seen some very inspiring usage of frags.

here is hoping next update fixes large gimballed frags for horizon. i have finally unlocked nemo with my bubble account (for me grade 3 engineering of frags was enough until now) - for extended use of frags. if fdev allows ...

In turn, thank you most kindly. Inspiration is exactly what I hope to achieve when producing any such demonstration, such that a direct review with very inspiring is the best result. Remember that everything starts with the Landing Gear boost, without which the full Fragment Cannon strength is not available.

With an Imperial Cutter, if you intend using a Fighter Hangar then you will also need to adapt your controls so that you can also choose to use the Cargo Scoop for boosts rather than the Landing Gear, for the latter will not deploy while a Fighter is active. This is also something I need to do; I use the Landing Gear on my Mamba because I disable the Cargo Scoop to reduce its power requirement, but the Imperial Cutter is a good case in favour of the ability to use either.

Incidentally, if or when you have Odyssey, try visiting Nemo again and disembark in the hangar to meet him personally (and try not to think about how he is apparently present in every hangar simultaneously). His cybernetic brain chooses to make some quite interesting comments!

Frustrating as bugs can be, the creativity and unpredictability of what can be broken by each update is something I generally look forward to.
Not that I like bugs but, at this scale, it's a form of entertainment in its own right.

My favourite form of comedy involves non sequiturs, hyperbole, surrealism, logical fallacies and a good dose of lateral thinking.
The bugs you described, and others I've seen, tick all my boxes inadvertently!

doesn't sound like "in the next update" (which is said to come this month) 🙄
Correction: There's Update 12 for Odyssey planned for this month. No news on Horizons.

edit: (Or correction of the correction I guess 😁 @goemon )
Zac just posted this week's Discovery Scanner which includes the following line:
A huge number of bugfixes across both Odyssey and Horizons
So it seems there is indeed an accompanying Horizons update scheduled for Update 12.

Update 12 was bumped out of may to june the 7th due to not wanting to pay for bank holiday wages in case PC EDO needed hot fixes...
They only want to have a normal working week release and not risk bank holiday pay to staff...
So it is being bumped 1 more week...
