Inexplicable Wounds on Bears

I don't know if this is a known thing or if it has been discussed before (I didn't see any threads pop up).
But why do the bears have wounds on their appearance when their conditions are absolutely stellar?
And I mean stellar, with all the statistics basically maxed out, seeing no conflict ever, as well as 5 stars from the inspector and all that.
The only explanation I can come up with is that they do not make use of the shelter (even though the Heatmap shows they can access it) and sleep on the ground, but that probably wouldn't give them wounds, let alone ones that look like (claw-)scratches.

I feel like this is a visual anomaly, like the textures are loaded in unintentionally.
Or is it normal for bears to have these marks from just... doing what they do?... Are they rough... maters?...
I'd think not, as it doesn't look healthy, but the game's statistics show they are doing fantastic.
Maybe it's like a "detail" thing in that they actually have scars as rescues or something?... I might not have noticed if they were there from the start.

Let me know if I'm just being stupid and overlooking something or if there's some kind of explanation.
Cause it makes me think something's wrong while there's literally nothing to improve.

And if it's indeed just normal or supposed to be there... enjoy the sitting bear picture, I suppose. 😅

I don't like scars. I'm sort of okay with animals fighting and getting scars. But I wish there was an option for vets to heal them. Like click on an animal and then select "call vet to heal scars". And it's disappointing to get an animal from the marketplace and they have scars when they arrive.

Some animals simply show up with scars from injuries received "before" they came to your zoo. There are a few threads about on getting rid of the scars altogether.
So it is a detail-thing (and I didn't notice they had them at first). - Alright, well I can kinda appreciate that, actually. Not that it's necessary.

If there was any debate about that, with some people not liking it, perhaps there could be an option to "show pre-existing conditions" or something like that.

To be fair, and I don't know if this is the case, it's probably tied to the description of the animal, like when it's a "rescue" it's likely they'll come scarred.
I feel like, having gotten to know this game a bit now, that's the way the creators do things. You need to research the details on everything to know what you'll get.

Again, I can appreciate that kind of detail, though I don't know if it's like that, as I don't remember what this bear's source was.

Also, in terms of gameplay, seeing animals with wounds can make the player something bad happened within the habitat, even though there are also alerts.
Maybe they could make a better visual distinction between pre-existing scars and recent wounds.

You can check on the animal's detail tab to see how many fights it's been in. That would explain any scarring.
Didn't know that. So: thank you.

I am thankful, too, that we don't have to put on fights between the animals like in Jurassic Park 2. Sometimes these games are a bit... weired. 🙁

Does that also include fights in the supposed time prior to getting the animal?
Because I know for a fact there were zero fights during the time in my zoo, unless the game doesn't always alert about it (which I doubt).
That same bear wás about to fight later on, after I already took this screenshot, because the child grew up and they instantly needed to fight about it (and I got rid of that one immediately), but nothing like that prior to that, that I know of anyway.

But I'll have a look at that statistic and see what it looks like. Thanks for the tip.
