Guardian Sentinels lack teeth in Odyssey

This issue report came to my attention yesterday : https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/50127

…so I checked it out this morning - I went to a Guardian site in Horizons and the sentinels were firing missiles at my SRV and my ship; when flipped over to Odyssey (and traveled round to the other side of the planet because the site had shifted) and the sentinels lost their missiles. I sat in front of one for five minutes and it occasionally hit me with some laser blasts, temporarily taking my SRV shields down to 79%

The bug has been around for a while - last reported 11 months ago but sadly expired with 7 confirmations - so I’m here asking if you will take a few minutes of your time to add a confirmation to the current report?

Thanks in advance to anyone who does 👍

I will not add a confirmation because I'm ok with weaker sentinels, less dangerous without missiles. Now you can collect your blueprints (or anything else) faster, to not
waste your time on sentinels, and your ship doesn't need point defence. I think we have enough combat scenarios in this game - PvE, PvP, AX, on foot - and guardian
sentinels are really unimportant, with or without missiles.
But ok, if OP can explain why it is so important, I will still add my confirmation, just for cooperation.

You would like me to explain why an obvious bug (it works in Horizons - it doesn’t in Odyssey) is important? 😅

Well, personally I like the bit of challenge presented by the missile wielding Sentinels. I enjoy speeding around in my SRV (in VR, of course), blasting away at the drones while ducking behind (and under) cover when the missiles get launched - the increasing blip noise of their approach is great sound design - and the impacts blasting my vehicle about; all great fun especially when there’s more than one. The slow beat of the background music getting ramped up when a drone surfaces really establishes a great atmosphere at the ruins - it’s old and it’s dangerous and it doesn’t want you there.

In Odyssey I sat in front of a drone and let it plink at me for five minutes until I got bored.

Any chance of a Confirmation, CMDR? 😁

I didn't tell it's not bug - I told for me it's not important. You described it so good, it's obvious you have big fun at ancient settlements - so, yes, you have my
confirmation! Done! :) (y)

I still have a feeling it's not a bug. Probably FDev noticed that very small % of players is able to kill thargoid interceptors in solo. So they decided to make it little bit easier
for average players and they gave us pre-engineered guardian weapons - gausses, shards, plasmas. To unlock this weapons you need some guardian blueprints and
materials, so you must collect them at guardian structures. To make also this part easier, they removed sentinel missiles. Basically, all this things are the parts of the same
goal - to kill interceptor. It works for me - using shards I can kill Cyclops very easy, Basilisk 50 -50 chances, and Medusas and Hydras are still out of reach, only for top class ax pilots.
This is just my theory. Many times in Odyssey we are not sure what's bug and what's feature.

This is why I think it's important to get these reports to Confirmed status - because then we stand a chance of getting feedback from FDev.

If it's a bug then it'll get the green tick of Acknowledgement, otherwise it'll be marked Invalid or By Design. That's the way we can find out (y)

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the issue report, we're now sat at 10 unique Confirmations which should bestow Confirmed status but from my experience it takes an eleventh contribution to tip it over the edge. If anyone fancies doing the honours...:)

I sorta doubt this, I have seen them very very occasionally display what I remember being the animation of building up to the launch, just no actual missile launch. Seems unlikely that is by design but certainly not impossible.

I'd like them to make some sites that are without the sentinels where mat collecting is less tedious and leave them at the blueprint sites mainly.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the issue report; it is now Confirmed and can be voted for - and already has Acknowledged status to boot 😁👍
