Idea on how to do on-foot VR in Odyssey

Hi,

I'm sure all agree that VR in Odyssey new stuff just sucks. Plain and simple sucks.

Now, I have an idea that it a bit outlandish or outrageus, but should make a working game.
Simply: VR player uses a "mech" suit. Its guided by joysticks and switch as normal.

In the gameplay, you make this obvious, like in the ship cockpit. That serves the immersion.

So that way, we VR guys never step out the cockpit, we just change to a mech!

Appreciate your thoughts,

They could only give a facegun with m+kb support like in Subnautica and that could be good enough. Development effort 1/10, player happiness 10/10.
Yup

The absolute minimum to get a working interface would be good enough for me. I think I would like the crosshair to react to depth, even if limited (so only up to a point) would be nice*. I would even be happy with an option to toggle crosshair if that helps! - For muh-immurshun!

*Old school S3D gamers may remember Helix. That legend made a fix that managed to convert games with 2D crosshairs to reactive 3D ones!

I think it's a good idea and a bit reminiscent of the Minotaur in NMS, my absolute favorite exocraft. Has FDev explained what their limitations were concerning footfall in vr? Is it a control/interface issue or a problem with resources? If it's the former, I don't think too many of us would mind a pasted on, look-to-aim/interact you see with other FPS VR games that only use m/kb or gamepads in lieu of touch controllers. That way we'd all get to enjoy the content and they have time to work out whatever obstacles they're trying to overcome.

I've been using an xbox controller for on foot and hotas otherwise. I have been enjoying odyssey in vr even though it isn't true vr. however camera suite is useful when wanting to look around in true vr
