What is the "its so cool" about p12?

Over the last weeks p12 has been praised and we heard multiple times that it will be cool, looks great etc.

After reading the patch notes, only "interact with bartender while sitting" and "interact with seat console in carries" seem to be really new. The defense mission is a reskin and everything else is a bugfix or more or less a minor QoL adjustment. To be honest, after reading the notes, the first words that ran through my mind were "maintenance mode".
And as usual (for over a year now), again no 32 button fix?

Seems to be exactly what they said it would be;

Meanwhile, updates 12 and 13 will largely focus on quality-of-life changes, stability and optimisation. Work has also begun on a major feature overhaul for 2023 that we’ll discuss later in the year.

This is Fdev and they don't have a good record for up dates, fixes extra we will just have to wait to see what's screwed up. If it all go's to plan it will be a first

Maybe one day... Makes me happy that I bought Virpil kit and their software addresses the issue (in ED at least, X4 has a 32 button limit but doesn't recognise multiple controllers) in an elegant way.

Even these programmers talking to us don't have a clue when update 12 is released. For me I would like Frontier to fix a lot of the bugs in the game but given their past history they don't do well with this.

The last CG with a ship Golconda in Upaniklis needing trintium fuel and many players made billions of profits playing with others. I was of course too late to the game as usual. Some say new players not going up the ladder to get to an Anaconda and have the experience to use it and now new players own a fleet carrier. But I love when Frontier comes up with something to get players excited ans maybe they will go to Open mode to talk and play with others. Maybe that was the point with the last CG. I look forward to more Community Goals getting people to play with each other.

As for update 12 fix the problems and I'll be happy. Give us a new or old ship as in the Panther Clipper introduced many decades ago as the largest cargo carrier in the game.

Bugfixes are great but if CM repeatedly say that there are cool and great things in the next patch, then it is understandable that someone may expect more than just bugfixes. Except fixing bugs falls under the category "cool and great"

If I compare the communication with the result, I automatically think of a specific stable genius, " this is a great patch, the best patch you can imagine and it will make elite great again"

Not seen people hyping it much like that. Mainly people just hoping it improves performance and fixes bugs.

Hell, my expectations are so low I'm just hoping the list of new bugs created isn't bigger than the list of fixes.

Most of the hype I've seen is from the forums with the usual dreams.txt . CMs have been excited about stuff this year, maybe the OP is getting confused about that, as the year doesn't end today?

Let's not forget that all these fixes are mainly needed because Frontier decided to release Odd before it was ready, while still happily taking the money. For someone who bought the game because "flying spaceships in VR", the real news since Odd release have been slim to none.
