How do I update Odyssey on steam??

Ok, This is where I'm noob. I went to launch Odyssey Today (Update Time) to well update it, and it asked me for my frontier store login or steam login.
I entered the correct information and code it gives me and it took me to Horizons and told me to purchase Elite Dangerous. Can someone please explain how updating works?

It always takes ages for them to complete the updates, don't expect the download to be available already. Steam will show the update is available as soon as it's ready.

After FDev have updated their servers and the client is ready for downloading, Steam, Epic and FDev themselves will start offering the updates. For Steam, specifically, it usually checks at Steam launch, so a simple restart of the application will probably do it, once it's available. But you can right click on E: D, and somewhere in the options you can select "Always keep this game up to date" or something like that, and it will check more often.

Steam seems to check at set intervals, it usually doesn't take that long for the update to appear (but yes, you can force a check by restarting the client). Also, "Always keep this game up to date" should be enabled by default.

What confused me was that I saw "Server Status: OK" and then I thought "since the news post about the update just dropped, I might be early by 24 hours, so, okay".
Tried to play, and got kicked back with "we're under update" message.
Only later I noticed the "4 hour downtime". Last time was 1 hour, so I am confused. But it's okay.
Time to nag Steam about making it available ASAP and forcing it to check for update till Steam server goes down.
