You should give US a refund

Depends on how many hours you've put in. less than 2 you get a full steam refund.

Thing is, they haven't sunset the game, Console owners still get galnet, Cgs and events as long as they're not Odyssey exclusive content (the Lastest INRA content was for everyone) and if there's any Odyssey updates that break Horizons, they'll fix that to keep it running.

just swapped platforms this week, elite is under a £fiver on steam and epic how much of a discount do you want?. Oh and there's loads of other commanders about I am actually enjoying the game again.

I'm not expecting nor do I think FDEV should give refunds. BUT! They are still selling the game on XBOX with no mention that console development has stopped.
I have not played Elite in months as I was waiting for EDO, but I noticed last night the game was updating, so I popped in to the store to see if EDO was available and saw the comments regarding the end of Console Development on Elite!.

Frontier, don't be a ! Update the game description in the XBOX/PS stores that console development is ended! Its still selling for $29.99 with no disclosure! Not cool!

I will probably go back to playing Elite/Horizons some more, I really wasn't all that enthusiastic about space legs.

I was really hoping to see Elite Dangerous succeed as a massive space simulation, but they failed in all single area of the game and I'm not really sure it's worth playing anymore.

  1. Powerplay was supposed to be a way to have conflict or alliance between big Powers in the Elite Universe. Players were supposed to have an impact (or at least what I believed) on what was going on, but Powerplay is just barebone useless.
  2. NPC in the game are just the same again and again without backstory or anything.
  3. Planets are mostly empty.
  4. Grinding, grinding and grinding.
  5. A lot of skins to buy with real money.
  6. Console version cancelled because of incompetence
  7. Communication issues between Frontier and the community.
I was thinking of giving Elite Dangerous a second chance with Odyssey. Was thinking it could be cool to get a bit more of exploration and see my ships from the inside, but since it's not coming anymore... I guess I could go on PC, but is it really worth it?
----------
I think the next space simulation I'm gonna play will be Starfield since you seems to have everything Elite Dangerous is missing. A clear direction, a good storytelling, create your own story, ship customization, explore thousands of planets with life, plants, artifacts, etc.

I think you need to question your own desire for a massive space simulation if you dont like "empty planets" and NPCs without a backstory

I'd go with Starfield.
From what I've seen in the new gameplay trailer Starfield will offer a lot more then Odyssey ever will.
I don't even mind the halt on further development on console for ED anymore, it'll save me the cash that I'll use on Starfield and it's probable dlc.
It seems that Starfield will give you that Armstrong moment, unlike Odyssey, when you actually get out of your cockpitchair walk through the interior of your ship out in the open.
I wonder if the interior of your ship changes too when you redesign your ship in Starfield, that'd be so cool.

Starfield is even less of a Space simulator! I see it as a type of competitor for lots of players who like story quests and hand crafted game worlds (people only have so much game time) but think people need to be clear on their priorities when moaning and making impractical demands!

The base building aspect of the game in the announcement was interesting, that brings that feature to two of the space genre player mind competition, we know base building was at least pencilled in as a feature for ED and it is bread and butter for the Cobra engine. Was it just pushed back to keep Odyssey DLC on track or was it completely canned after a couple of iterations of gameplay planning? I get the impression that there is a virtual cupboard full of features in various states of dress and they can be grabbed when it makes sense to do so from a product and polishing point of view.

Maybe I don’t know what ED is supposed to be… When I first got the game, thought that creating my own story would be cool, but the way ED is doing it in term of gameplay isn’t fun or the execution is bad.

When players first discovered Thargoid while being intercepted, that was one of the epic moment of ED when I wanted to explore the whole ED universe, but the way it really impacted the core gameplay experience of ED was inexistant other than exploring and maybe discover something… Which is great, but the fact that the devs are so slow in everything make everything pointless after a certain time.

Powerplay was really something I was looking for, but the execution is really bad. First of all, expansion only work with expansion events and not if one of the alliance faction expand to another system. Also factions are tied to the main Faction type (Empire, Federation, etc.) but it would have been better to have allegiance to the real faction name to make the players really have an impact on expansion/defence of some systems factions.

Whatever, that’s my opinion of what I thought ED would have been, but it’s not going anywhere.

People are hyping a lot over Starfield.
In not that convinced it wont be just another Skyrim, but in a SciFi setup
Well it's being lauded as No Man's Skyrim for a reason....

That being said, given the SC made reality 1,000 planetary scope universe system, the well established crafting/questing/exploration TES/Fallout game mechanic, the modding potential for building custom ships player design settlements/cities, hiring/staffing NPCs to live/work in these? Basically the ability to custom create your own civilizations and entire star systems. Jezus. This is going to take PC modding to the next level of evolution. It's going to be INSANE

Beware of this Hype. Example: Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky, Spore,...
FAIL. You forgot Fallout - 16-times-the-detail-76

Lol Anyways tbh 2 of 3 of these have succeeded in redeeming themselves beyond both dev, fan boi and gaming industries expectations. So that gives me a LOT of hope for Starfield. Sure it's not a genuine space sim like ED (those ppl who do are setting themselves up for major disappointment if this is their expectation). But IMO it's the BEST compromise between NMS and ED (with a little bit of X4 sprinkled in). All I ever wanted to do in ED was have a cuppa Joe on my ship while it's parked or flying through space. Go hang out with my crew. Have that much longed for dram of vacuum dessicated scotch. Served by a friendly professional barkeep at the local planet/orbit side bar. And now, it's quite likely (via base game or mods) that my lone space faring explorer might hire a crewman/pilot who becomes an indispensable adventuring companion and possible spouse. ie the space version of Mjoll aka NOT Lydia 😂😂
Anyhow, sadly this is where ED dropped the ball for me. So kudos to Bethesda if they can truly pull this off.

So I bought a series X to play EDO and just before consolegate I had to buy a new hotas as I broke my old one and I have pedals, I also bought an elite 1 controller when it came out ( thought it would give me extra buttons ) so can I get a refund ???
Only kidding ........
I had 8 months in game time and it was fun . Even as much as I am disappointed in Fdev I can't understand why people want a refund or the mark 4 or something because fdev dropped EDO for consoles ? We ( consoles) lost nothing apart from our trust in Fdev.

You forgot to mention EDO ? The one plus point for starfield is rather than release it broken and not even a quarter finished they put back the release date .
You must be new at Bethesda.

Speaking of which, I severely enjoy the difference in reactions to Starfield from different communities. Space Sim people are like "OMG look we get the base building and ship customization we've always wanted!" And Bethesda fans are like "Not this settlement building garbage again. Get this stupid game out of the way and work on Elder Scrolls 6."

I truly adore how gamers are never actually happy about anything, other than complaining.

That's why I don't really care that they pushed back the release date. It's going to be 2-3 months at least after release before I buy it.

Let all the game-breaking release bugs get out of the way first.

You only get one first playthrough.

Also, modders are going to be at this from day 1, and that's one of the big attractions of a Bethesda game.
