So, from what i'm hearing. Cargo loading and unloading will be on a timer. Not even with fidelitous NPCs to load and unload your cargo, just a wait timer.

Had an awesome play session. Got out on the hab, walked to tram station, waited for the tram, waited for the tram to reach the starport, waited for my ship to be delivered, took off, waited to get out of atmosphere so I could jump to another planet, waited during the travel by struggling with my mobiglass, waited for my ship to reach the ground, landed, got lost several minutes trying to find the selling kiosk, bought many tons of goods, waited for the transfer (let's hope CIG will sell a 'nervously stomp foot and watch wristwatch' emote for $15/20 so I can fideliciously roleplay!), got bored so decided to take another mission in the meantime, waited during take off, atmosphere exit, quantum jump to destination, got badly wounded by an AI foe, incapacited I called a distant friend to come rescuing me, waited for his arrival, the wait was happily disturbed by agrieferPVPer who stole my goods and destroyed my ship, unfortunately died few seconds before my friend reached me.
Phew, what a ride! Unfortunately, I woke up in prison because I got crimestat for some reason. So I'm good to wait for the sentence timer I guess

Oh... That's what was meant by "NPC indistinguishable from players" stance then...When you made your account did you untick the hidden selection box that says "sign me up as an NPC", because that is apparently the life of an NPC, having to actually live in the SC universe!

You can also try to learn the game and set your spawn location to a space station like everyone else ?Life of a Spaceman:

He just doesn't know how to play the game. No effort learning it and afterthat complaining that he looses timeAnd all those times i've read people complaining that ED doesn't respect their time. I'd love to see those people play SC.
If players have to learn to not use the train to get places, why have CIG spent dev time implementing it in the first place, rather than say maybe spending money getting a manageable feature set from an alpha to a beta?He just doesn't know how to play the game. I'm almost sure he doesn't know how to cut in half the time to travel to some caves...

Now see, your problem is that you are applying logic to SC and its fans.If players have to learn to not use the train to get places, why have CIG spent dev time implementing it in the first place, rather than say maybe spending money getting a manageable feature set from an alpha to a beta?
You aren't the target audience. The target audience are people who want wait-timers, mundane chores, and expensive trinkets, in their Space Second Life game because they want escapism from their real lives of waiting and mundane chores (without the expensive trinkets). It does not matter one iota that one can circumvent all these waiting times - the fact that they are in the game in the first place is more than enough evidence that the game does not respect the player's time. Don't know about you, but I play games to get away from the mundanities of real live, I'm certainly not going to wait on a train in a game.
You need to go to cities only for specific shops and mission givers. They are immersives and give a sense of reality to the world of SC. I don't want a world only filled with convenient small places. If players have to learn to not use the train to get places, why have CIG spent dev time implementing it in the first place, rather than say maybe spending money getting a manageable feature set from an alpha to a beta?
Say the guy on a forum of a game where you can watch youtube during travel times...You aren't the target audience. This really puts me off Star Citizen. I hate the long journey times of Elite. It's the sort of "immersion" I can do withoutLife of a Spaceman:

If you can't spend 5 min in a SC city from time to time (because it's nothing more when you know how to play) so SC is not for you, simple as that.Don't know about you, but I play games to get away from the mundanities of real live, I'm certainly not going to wait on a train in a game.
