Sounds like the shutdown came from the EMP that the interceptors do when they jump in, they just weren't spotted by the cmdr beforehand or within range of their scanners.
Oh, could this be that brief moment? Just before the shutdown.
When I went 3rd view after waiting for a bit, maybe it gained some distance and that's why I didn't see it around.
But still unclear why this made my MCs inoperable for the rest of the battle
Yeah that green stuff is the shutdown field, it spreads outwards from the interceptors (up to about 10km) when they fire their EMP. One of them might have been that yellow out-of-range dot on your radar, judging by the screenshot the shutdown field passed over your ship from behind so you were facing away from them.

One more question and I won't ruin this CG thread any more How to I reset/reboot/repair MCs after being hit by EMP? Thanks all and sorry for slight off-topic.

Were you repairing them with an AFMU when you got shutdown? In that case they would stay deactivated until you turned them back on in your modules list.
But otherwise they should have come back online with the rest of the ship.

I think you need a Shutdown Field Neutraliser to counteract the shutdown field when you see that message, charge it up to max (hold Fire Key) and release.

Now to really end this saga - it was a glitch.
Tried CZ again, everything happened the same way, but after EMP and reboot I could fire again at Interceptors (almost no damage, lol, but MC worked). Note to self: next time try again, than post on forum.
So, I've jumped my carrier out to Site 1 in Syneufe Whatever the heck. I'm getting about six items per run 'round the grounds. Is that about right? Never really faffed around with Guardian stuff too much aside from unlocking the FSD booster.

See...that's what immediately disheartens me. I'm just in this for the paint job but I refuse to do the inverted limpet spam relog thing...but I feel that if I don't, there's no way I am making the top 75%.

Rather than using an SRV, I can highly recommend using a T6. Small enough to pick most items straight up from the ground and holds about 100 total. One full load should comfortably get you in the top 75% (picking up around 12-13 items per run). Take an SRV if you want to pop up the relics and/or pick up items that get stuck in crevices that are too difficult for the ship.
This is why its such a brilliant plan Darling. Salvation will do exactly what he's done before, and the Thargoids will be so used to him doing the same thing they'll be surprised when he does the same thing again.

I'm fairly sure top 75% is still easily achievable without it, it'll just take a bit longer of driving around with the SRV or buying artifacts from carriers that have done the limpet thing.
