Clipping through the ground and falling.Where on the mediocrity scale is Tier 0?
Clipping through the ground and falling.Where on the mediocrity scale is Tier 0?
The advantages in investing full on into accomplishing the ambition of making your game the best it can be
instead of taking shortcuts to please shareholders and then being doomed to settle for mediocrity.
Until they lock the code and stop messing with core features it will always have bugs.
When would you forsee that code lock happening for example Dan?
2023?
2025?
It's not even mediocre at the moment...it's pure unadulterated crapHype over substance is a terrible thing. Physician, heal thyself...
Please do not talk about SQ42 this way.

Given your apparent love of clickbait, it seems odd they you didn't post OA's recent vid...

And odder still that you can't summon up an answer to this question:
It's almost like SC is trapped in a perpetual state of mediocrity![]()
Welp...seems like purchasing a paint job for my redeemer has helped the idiot Roberts pay for his new roof

Who are you and what have you done to our precious SC connoisseur, Mole. It's not even mediocre at the moment...it's pure unadulterated crap![]()
A bit of one of these moments when I got the email after spending a whole $6.95...You done goofed up again?
Welp...seems like purchasing a paint job for my redeemer has helped the idiot Roberts pay for his new roof

You've spent $2.5k+ on SC?A bit of one of these moments when I got the email after spending a whole $6.95...

But a bit more like this after I looked up my SC account billing history over the last 5 years...
![]()
A lot more than some, a lot less than others...but it certainly seems so. I've never looked at my overall spending even though the numbers are right there under billing in the account settings if I had cared enough to look... I really had no idea I was anywhere near that figure so it was a genuine surprise when I got the email. Since I only bought back in during 2018 after refunding my first account, all those occasional $20 subs, LTI tokens and cosmetic paint jobs certainly pile up after 5 years of playing the Star Citizen one armed banditYou've spent $2.5k+ on SC?

Spoilers for Siege of Orison ahead you have been warned
I've been enjoying my time with Star Citizen so far. I'm taking the game for what it is, a buggy still under development alpha with a lot of potential and tons of fun to be had (if you can tolerate the bugs).
I decided to become a subscriber and check out Siege of Orison today. Watching the videos for it made it look so cool. So I prepped for it this AM and jumped in today.
Let's get the bugs out of the way first:
This is what I ran into in my brief couple of hours with it. I'm sure there are loads more. These can all be fixed and are not what I'm here to complain about it.
- AI rarely if ever shoots
- Player desync is constant
- Mission critical AI occasionally spawn in under/inside the map preventing the mission from being completed.
Siege is a bloated incoherent mess. The platforms are massive and detailed, but the objectives are bland and time consuming. The basic premise is there are three LTs for the Ninetails you need to kill and search the corpse of. After you search the corpses you'll be able to disable the anti-air guns and then fly to the final platform to face down the big bad. I never got to the final part and I'll explain why later.
This isn't exactly inspired mission design, but it's serviceable. The problem comes in with how much of a massive waste of your time the entire event is. The lieutenants aren't marked and can spawn in several spots on their respective platform. These platforms are huge and take minutes to cross. Eventually the LT does get found but that can take ages. If there were interesting firefights going on this might be forgivable, but due to the desync and AI brokenness that's not happening right now.
Instead it becomes the worlds worst game of hide and seek wherein the monotony of running around the platforms gets broken up by occasionally mowing down an AI that has fallen deeply in love with a doorway. Eventually you will hunt down all the lieutenants. Excellent, now you can get to the next part of the mission. Finding a random container on any of the three previous platforms that is housing the computer you need to switch off to kill the AA guns on the final platform. Then finally you can fly to the final platform to fight the big bad. There are ships provided for you to go to the final platform, which is great, I love flying ships I can't afford. However, if at any point before the IFF is shut down you fly the ship you're going to get beamed with AA turrets and blown up. Hey, you were warned about it, if you make that choice you should face the consequence.
Here comes the biggest design flaw of them all, the number of ships is finite. That means confused players, trolls, or someone who is just real confident in his piloting skills can blow up the ships you need to get to the final platform, resulting in a mission failure. This is such a problem I spent my second attempt doing siege standing next to an MSR and telling people if they tried to enter it before we got rid of the AA I was going to shoot them in the face. Which resulted in me standing on a platform occasionally popping braindead AI for an hour and a half.
This entire mission from start to finish takes hours. Here is what the objectives are again.
I hope CIG can get this square and hit their release window, but frankly the entire thing right now is fudged and not just from a bugs perspective. The thing they're having us do here is not fun gameplay. 80% of it is walking and waiting on a shuttle and hoping the elevators don't bug out.
- Kill three AI that won't shoot back
- Turn off the IFF so you can fly the ships
- Fight the final braindead AI on the Admin Platform
I love this game. I really do. But Siege and really on foot AI in general, needs a LOT more time in the cooker before it's going to be ready for live.
I played that for a bit tonight...those comments about sum it up. It's also the reason for my earlier 'unadulterated crap' comment
Could go either way with any game really if you want it enough. Same as bug posting,
If the goal is to make a game with certain features then code lock should only happen after the foundations to enable them are done
Well sure it has the strange thing would be if it didn't. Remember Odyssey alpha? Or better, after release? Or Cyberpunk? Those games went through alpha and beta stage before going "gold" and still came out with plenty of bugs. Heck, I could pick GOTY's like GTA or RDR Online and find all kinds of bug compilations and those games are out for a while now and their developers aren't exactly novices, few or their company has any budget problems.Nope. SC has a plethora of comedy bugs to post about because it is still a very buggy pre-alpha. Funny that.
The less funny bit is the $450m crowdfunding raised off the back of undelivered features...
So for SC that means, when? In your estimation.
2032?
When do you expect SC to stop being a buggy alpha? ¯\(ツ)/¯
I don't dare to step foot in that cloud city with this heat wave. I'm afraid some parts of my PC might melt while in there.I played that for a bit tonight...those comments about sum it up. It's also the reason for my earlier 'unadulterated crap' comment
Don't go buying any subs or LTI tokens thoughWell sure it has the strange thing would be if it didn't. Remember Odyssey alpha? Or better, after release? Or Cyberpunk? Stating that games in pre-alpha are "very buggy" is a pleonasm. The kind of a statement attributed to ignorance and-or malice.
As for when it will the game receive all it's intended features I bet not even they know, I'm just glad by what I can play and that new updates keep being delivered and moving the game closer to their intended vision. It show's they're committed to make their games to be the best it can be instead of leaving it to languish in a maintenance mode or worse, an unannounced slow death treatment like console development got.

Still got plenty of new ships to try from the last ship show event and now 5 more from the free-fly.
Such a scummy thing to do to hide behind these free-flys and forcing players to fly new ships. tss tss
With how easy to fly all kinda of ships and how all the armours are so cheap and easy to acquire plus the special cosmetics are also in the loot table there's no reason too unless one realy wants to give them money.Don't go buying any subs or LTI tokens though![]()
It'll be fun after the wipe...at least that'll perhaps give me a reason to go back and play more regularly than I have of lateWith how easy to fly all kinda of ships and how all the armours are so cheap and easy to acquire plus the special cosmetics are also in the loot table there's no reason too unless one realy wants to give them money.

I've been busy enough just trying all the free-toys and still have plenty to go.
I believe we all know the effects of Odyssey release. But
5, 10, 25 years, Still missing: planets and moon with atmosphere, 40 ships 0 Interiors done, Extravehicular Activities, Hunting aliens, the list can go on.
From what I've seen with Elite and how all the corner cutting keep coming came back to bite it.
Yup...Hello, Doctor, a person I know seems to have a creepy obsession with a video game. Like, they cannot help but constantly talk about it, even during discussions of other games. All signs point to their mind unhealthily fixating on it 24/7, despite warnings from others. Can you prescribe any treatments or medications that might help them? We'd like to improve their happiness and quality of life so that they may enjoy other games in peace

Can't deny they have a very efficient business model... For profitability that is.A lot more than some, a lot less than others...but it certainly seems so. Taking aside the genuine whale boys, this little gif I keep posting almost epitomises the reaction of every veteran concierge backer I've ever spoken to... and why it's such an appropriate warning to anyone who dares step on the slippery slope that is Star Citizen...

So do they courier a gold leaf physical copy to you by unicorn ? Make sure you post a pic of your Arrowhead Sniper Rifle Executive Edition which from what I have read is your perk!Welp...seems like purchasing a paint job for my redeemer has helped the idiot Roberts pay for his new roof
