Atmospherics : Lush worlds (concept art)

Since that GPU will likely be a Geforce 5xxx or even 6xxx or the AMD equivalent, because it'll be around the year 2025 or even 2026, probably not. The ship interiors and EVA DLC we'll have had in between will have been less taxing.
Not sure if there isn't at least one smiley missing here

Nice Textures! No underlying issues here! (6 months ago)

No issues with planetary geometry being different when in ship vs on foot/srv.

Wow! Looks like a pub carpet! No underlying issues here. Total realism! (Present Day)

Look at the fuzziness. Jesus. No underlying issues here! (Present Day)

Looks like they havent fixed this issues 6 months later. More bugged textures! Didn't know planets come in a "camo" variety. No underlying issues here! (Present day)

Look at that line between the two texture types. Nice staircasing there. Beautiful transition. No underlying issues here! (Present Day)

Also not to mention .......
New Planet Tech is KILLER of Exploration (all terrain is tiling/repeating/not procedural/random)

These are recurring issues found across multiple planets. You can't get a clearer sign that there are underlying issues with the planet tech. But nah, Im sure you are right. No underlying issues here!

Probably time to clean your glasses or somethin ...

I don't see most of that, if any at all when I am approaching and landing on planets, the most I see sometimes is a circle of different coloured textures around the ship and that's to do with LOD issues not the planetary tech, I suggest a lot of the above is also that issue.

Very pretty but, realistically, I can't see us ever getting that in-game.

Personally, I'd settle for G-Police style "domed-cities", where you fly down from orbit, see a huge dome on the surface, fly through the entrance, get a transition (loading screen) and then end up inside the city.

If FDev handled it that way, they could develop it as paid DLC whereby the domed cities are simply off-limits to somebody who doesn't buy the DLC but players who do would get both ship and FPS content (again, similar to G-Police) within the cities.

g police....now there is a game I have not played for a good few years.

Uhuh.

Always thought it wa kind of sad that G-Police wasn't a bigger success.
I got it bundeld with a gfx card about 20 years ago, didn't bother looking at it for about a year and then, when I did, I thought "Blimey! Why didn't I already know about this???"

Sure, the graphics weren't great (by today's standards) and the domed-cities meant the environment was limited but the gameplay was superb.
Within the cities the gameplay WAS totally "sandbox".
You'd get a mission and it'd be up to you how you completed it; either by stealth, aggression, all at once, a bit at a time etc.

If somebody brought out a direct remake of it, with modern graphics, I'd definitely buy it.
If FDev spent a couple of weeks playing it and decided to incorporate something similar into ED, I'd be over the bloody moon.

As usual, I'm all for finding uses for small ships and it'd be great having, say, a DBS specially for bounty-hunting within domed cities or a T6 for pretending to be space-FedEx, moving cargo around a domed city quickly.

I think I played it on the original playstation if I had to guess around 1996

edit almost..... I cheated and googled. 1997.

, there was a small tech demo made for VR which had a bit of a blade runner / g police vibe about it.. funnily enough at the time my 1st thought was that if elite looked like it it would be great. I can't remember what it was called.

I'd prove them bringing back the Domed-Cities.

Now the technical challenges of implementing it would be another story...

Briefly made me think how cool hiding in cloud cover would be :)

Then I remembered we have 'night vision' that would completely negate that challenge. One of the things I miss in Odyssey is the fog effect in deep canyons & some craters.
Some cool jamming module will negate the night vision ;)
