Odyssey vs. Horizons: significant differences in content

Currently there are at least three significant differences in the separated galaxies of Odyssey and Horizons:
  • Palin's old base in Maia: In Horizons it's gone, there is just a bit of wreckage on the ground where it used to be. In Odyssey, the base is complete and dockable (although it has no active services). Logging out while docked at the base and attempting to load Horizons results in an orange sidewinder.
  • Guardian Obelisks: Since update 10*, in Odyssey guardian obelisks all show rapidly change glyphs instead of specific glyphs of the items required to activate them. In Horizons they behave "normally", still showing their required items. This makes it impossible to complete Ram Tah's quests in Odyssey without consulting community produced guides to know which items to carry while scanning.
  • Non-Human Signal Sources in Sosong, Didio and Novas: When Salvation fired his superweapon in these systems after the two-week CG, all the thargoid signals disappeared. A few weeks ago in Odyssey they all returned. In Horizons they are still absent. No mention of the thargoid incursions returning has been made on Galnet, despite these systems being fairly high profile for each of the superpowers.
As players, obviously we don't expect to be hand-fed every small detail - half the fun is speculating where the story will go. But with these differences between the game versions, it's difficult to tell what is potentially a part of the ongoing story and what is simply a bug. Please can one of the community managers address these issues?

* I'm not completely sure it was update 10 that changed the behavior of the obelisks, it may have been update 9 but it was somewhere around that time.

EDIT 19 August: Note that this post was made prior to the end of the Azimuth Saga, which is why it doesn't mention any of the differences that appeared after the firing of the Proteus Wave.

An intresting thing about SoSong, Novas and Didio.
The NHSS are POIs rather than SS, this is unusual, they should be called "Non Human Points of Interest".

I dont think there is anyhting behind it just a mistake or oversight.

How do you use artifacts to activate them (the obilisks ) ?

When you drive upto some of the Obilisks they light up.
The paterns they make (in horizons) dictate the artifact it wants you to have in the srv when you data scan the obilisk.

These 2 sound like proper bugs. Guardian stuff... who knows!

considering that the puzzle requires two specific objects and was designed back when the scarab could only carry that many, I have to wonder what happens if you fill it up with more and then go scan an obelisk. Do you just need to have two of the four be the correct ones? Does it break if you have more? Does it fail to unlock if you have the two correct objects and one or more incorrect ones?

Might have to head out there and do some science. I've not bothered doing that mission yet.

Some of the obelisks only require one item, it's been a while since I did anything with them (mainly because they're bugged!) but iirc having additional items makes it fail and you get the message from Ram Tah saying you did it wrong.

Like BL1P said, the pictures they show are meant to be representations of the items you need to have in your cargo when data-scanning them. You also need to have collected one of the decoding missions from Ram Tah (there are two - one for ruins, one for structures) to have him give you the decoded log messages.

Indeed, and it's fantastic - you can continuously farm specific types of interceptors, probes, sensors, etc. You can even target a fleet carrier jump to a place where you know there will be a NHSS that you want, and make one-second supercruise jumps between fighting and rearming. I even tried to kite a medusa 800km to my carrier.... but it freaked out and jumped away (with one heart left...) when it got within 70km.

...all of which makes me think having the POIs turned back on is a bug. Somebody modified something else in the system (perhaps adding the tourist beacons for the vox galactica interviews) and it unmasked the thargoid POIs.

As I am parked in Novas atm with my FC I cannot argue with your logic :)
