Hi everyone,
Thought some people may find this interesting. 3 female bison have been released into the wild in the UK, eventually also a bull. Hopefully this is very successful

Great news! There are some of them roaming free in Poland still. If you're interested, Polish govt Foirestry agency have a camera set up, where you can watch bisons online.

You can find it here - however it's currently off, as they are moving the whole set up to a new place. But they have released a "best of" YT playlist from the current (or previous now) location here.

Side note, they also have osprey's watch cam. The live feed is here. Really fascinating. Gues you can auto-translate with your browser to read the description, all of the info is there.

I'm curious, are they roaming wild and free to go wherever or is it a fenced "reserve"?
I believe i read in another article that they will have access to a smaller area then bigger. I assume its kind of a "test" to see what impact they will have rather than just release and it turn out to be the wrong decision.

"At first the females will have a five-hectare double fenced area to explore, but this will increase to 50 hectares when the bull arrives. The animals will eventually have access to 200 hectares" this is from a different article.

This is great news! The rewilding projects that have been going on in the UK are incredible. I’m so delighted and proud of my country!

Perhaps noteworthy is that the Wildwood Trust, one of the two main groups behind this, is actually a zoo that neighbours the wood where the bison have been released. They've done a lot of conservation work over the years - annually releasing water voles, dormice and red squirrels bred on site, being the first place in the UK to bring back beavers for managing wetlands and they are also beginning to take part in projects to expand the ranges of chough, pine marten and wildcat in Southern Britain.

Details about all the things they do can be seen under the 'Conservation' menu at the top of their homepage:

I’d absolutely love to see the Wisent in-game. Considering that Frontier is based in the United Kingdom, very near where these bison have been released, I think that it’d be a real loss if they weren’t seen in the game this year. These beautiful animals are one of Europe’s most charismatic animals, and would provide players a real headliner for their European sections in zoos! Additionally, with the recent release of the Conservation pack, the Wisent would really fit into the recent themes brought to light in-game!
In any case, I’d be absolutely delighted to welcome these beauties into Planet Zoo (hopefully soon!) For now though, I’m delighted to welcome them to the UK wild!
