I don't mean to be blunt or rude, but compared to most other things in the game that do look good, the Caribou Moss just looks... bad.
I think it's interesting to have moss as separate entities to dress things up, but this one just doesn't work well.
First of all, when you look it up, which ends up on Reindeer Lichen and Cladonia rangiferina (Is it what it's intended to be?), it barely looks anything like it.
Well, kind of, but more like it's scaled up too large, as it's very "flat" (as if it's a bunch of plates) and blurred.
Is that what happened to it by any chance? Because I feel like it would look more accurate if the model itself was scaled down a lot.
It's also very "high" with a lot of empty space underneath, which makes it awkwardly pointy, and lowering it just makes it look like it's sticking into whatever you stick it into.
Right now, the Hawthorn bushes look more like what you find in photos of Caribou Moss or Reindeer Lichen. Not quite, but somehow still closer.
I think it's useful to have this kind of foliage, but its lower quality really stands out and it's difficult to make it look good. It looks like "foliage" from a late-'90s or early-2000s games, with its very flat and low-res textures. - It's almost as if its level-of-detail simply doesn't update when nearer, and it could very well be the case for all I know.
I'd like to see this updated to something more accurate or at least more appropriate and usable. - I'd almost suggest for it to be removed and replaced with an option in the Terrain-coverage, like have Moss besides Grass. Though, that wouldn't be applicable on items, so perhaps even both. - But this needs an update.
Thanks for reading.
