Newcomer / Intro How Many Blueprints From Each Engineer?

1. How many bp can I get from one engineer?
2. Once I've decided on which bp to pin am I stuck with that for as long as my pilot exists?
3. If I can get more than one bp can I get the same one twice?
4. If I can get more than one bp will it cost me another meta alloy (farseer) for every bp or have I bought her off for life?

Gotta say that finding BASIC noob info is frustrating. Much is out-dated, contradictory, too advanced, non-existent or makes too many assumptions. Answers are spread across three game versions and literally limitless key bindings.

You'd think that typing "how many blueprints can I get from one engineer elite dangerous" in google would get the job done. Nope.

So...

Sorry for the idiotic questions but my patience for scrounging the net is running thin and I'm only at the beginning of the first engineer.

1. erm? what do you mean?
Once you unlock an engineer, you have access to all their blueprints

2. You can pin one blueprint per engineer. Which means you can use that blueprint in every space station or carrier
However, you can visit the engineer agaion and pin another blueprint

3. again, this doenst make sense.
And again, once you unlock an engineer, you can access all their blueprints (from their base) or only the pinned blueprint from anywhere

4. See 1. and 3.
That 1t of meta-alloy will unlock Farseer, by unlocking her, you have access to all her services (read: all her blueprints)
However, after you unlock an engineer, you need to work them up to increase your access level (Grade) with that engineer.
You do that by using their blueprints to engineer your modules (most effective) or by a secondary mean specific to that engineer (sell exploration data to for Farseer, commodities or bonds or something else for other engineers)

You can only have one blueprint pinned at each engineer at a time.
3. If I can get more than one bp can I get the same one twice?
You can pin a similar blueprint for the same module at a different engineer there is no point in having an exact duplicate.
4. If I can get more than one bp will it cost me another meta alloy (farseer) for every bp or have I bought her off for life?
That is the one off fee to gain access to the engineer, you will not be charged for future visits or changing the single blueprint you can have pinned at that engineer.

This is one of the problems with a game that has been for so long.

The good news is once you understand how that one works all the others are basically the same just different hoops to jump through for access.

I'll just add this, because many newcomers don't realize it.

If you pin a blueprint, you can then use it at any station that offers remote engineering (which is most stations), without going back to the Engineer.

BUT, you cannot gain rep with the Engineer by using remote engineering. You MUST rank up first by actually going to the Engineer and having him or her modify your modules. Some engineers also let you rank up by selling them exploration data or doing other things, but that's a secondary way of doing it.

Anyway, don't do any remote engineering until you've gained full Grade 5 access to the Engineer.

Thank you for your time. Much appreciated.

If you like a bit of spoilers, check Inara, engineers section.
Lots of info regarding their unlock requirements and what blueprints they have and what grade they can do for the specific blueprints.

Engineers usually are able to get several blueprints to maximum (G5) grade, but others only to much lower grades.
For example, Felicity Farseer can do Grade 5 blueprints for FSD, but only Grade1 for Powerplants and Grade 3 for Drives
While Palin can do Grade 5 for Drives and Grade 3 for FSD

And if you really neeed to have two blueprints for the same module pinned - it's one blueprint per Engineer, and all of the Bubble engineering facilities have their duplicates in Colonia :devilish:

Also, you can't add experimental effects in the remote workshop. I like to take my modules to an engineer, get them to grade 1, add whatever experimental I want, and work on the higher grades remotely (once you have full rep). I'm usually doing that where there's a manufactured material trader.

There's a few videos on YouTube with recommendations on the best blueprints to pin when you've got most engineers unlocked. There are many blueprints that you'd almost always use, like increased range FSD or charge-enhanced power distributor.

NEVER EVER SAY THAT, you are a new player and you are always welcome as there are no dumb, stupid, or noob questions. As a veteran player from Vallina Elites launch, I still haven't learned everything.... :) Elite has a very sharp learning curve that an entire community that will go out of their way to help you step by step just to help you enjoy the title.... :)
There are toxic trolls but just ignore them.

The Commanders that have helped you are very much correct as there are a great many Engineers in Elite that you can find and unlock. As @aRJay has given you information in several ways to unlock them, sadly but fairly at a price. But every Engineer has their own different prints, so to speak, to fitting a ship. Yes, they some Engineers can offer the same prints as other Engineers but only a very small % that will duplicate the grade. Possible grade 1-4 prints can be found with the same, but the primary Engineer can offer Grade 5 and a variable unique experimental, for a lack of better words, that can only be done at the Engineer's home base. All other can be "Pinned", but only 1 per Engineer, grade 1-5 via the same print from Engineer anywhere a workshop.

As mentioned, INARA is a good third-party site that can help quite a bit. Now Engineering is a perk but not needed just to clarify.
This post is only to welcome you to the Elite and the above Commanders, as I've delt with before, will always be one of the first to help.
Look to the Forums my friend.... :)
See you in the black Commander....o7
