How would someone target a solo player? It's literally useless information.Ah - but it can be used to specifically target that player, either in-game or out of it.

The information is: your commander name, squadron, power, where you are (when sighted), what you are carrying (i.e. anything a scan could show) and what ship you were flying. Extras might be who you did trade with, and so on- in short augmenting what exists to be more informative. And besides: Why would this meta information even be in the game?
Likely out of game, in any shared social space. How would someone target a solo player? It's literally useless information.
Factions don't "belong" to players - as players are not in control of them in any way - that's a basic error. Its not about instancing- this is about the data players generate that is fed into the BGS but the identity is masked. If someone does a mission thats affecting your faction, why is it you can't know who did it?
? I think the level of paranoia is strong here. This is about what these players do in the game, so that you can match your effort more effectively against the actions recorded.Likely out of game, in any shared social space.
You're a CMDR in ED, not the fricken secret police. How would a lowly CMDR know all this? How would even the in game authorities know all this? E. g. in an anarchy. This is largely meta knowledge and there is nothing that justifies its existence in the game. The information is: your commander name, squadron, power, where you are (when sighted), what you are carrying (i.e. anything a scan could show) and what ship you were flying. The naivete of the position where it is assumed that such information would never be used in an untoward manner is palpable.? I think the level of paranoia is strong here. Stop diverting the issue, Robert. People push factions even when they don't own them. Its the pushing thats important, not who owns what.Factions don't "belong" to players - as players are not in control of them in any way - that's a basic error.
If you ever engaged in PMF or Powerplay wars or controlling areas you'd want to find out who it was and in what numbers as it happens, not the day after. As to why one does not know who does missions either for or against a faction, what useful information does that add - and why should what other people do in game be published for others to scrutinise?
? Please read the numerous posts where I detail all this. You're a CMDR in ED, not the fricken secret police. How would a lowly CMDR know all this? OK, so they fawn about a CMDR handle on their petty Discord, right. Doesn't really affect the solo player and next day the same thing will happen again. It becomes toxic with the MP, when ppl both join a server and social space. Most know that bullying isn't allowed and can get you banned. You'd have to be a real gonk to suggest better ways to bully other players.Likely out of game, in any shared social space.
Yes, the GAME has that information. As in the game engine. Who in the game world would be able to collate all that info and why aren't they in power already?? Please read the numerous posts where I detail all this.
First: NPCs / players / bases/ sec scan you all the time. These scans generate the sightings of you. Its not meta, this is the game right now.
You can avoid this by being stealthy, or that anarchy systems / certain states / compromised navs stop recording this information.
So, this is showing the information the game has (through you playing it) on you at that time.
Just knowing someone is about is enough so you don't ignore that area. Countering requires you knowing, and the reports in game are far too general and easily gamed (such as traffic reports which just record transit and nothing else- I can make one system look like Shin Dhez when it should record things more accurately). There is no information gain from that bit of information. When you know there is someone doing something it doesn't matter who they are. You should bother how to counter it.
That some even assume a level of ownership, e.g. the ability to affiliate a Squadron to a Faction leads some to make the false assumption, shows the lack of understanding of what Factions are and what they are not.Stop diverting the issue, Robert. People push factions even when they don't own them. Its the pushing thats important, not who owns what.
What some want in relation to detailed information is neither here nor there - it's what Frontier chooses to publish that matters - and Frontier choose not to publish information specifically identifying individual players except in a very few cases - both of which are leaderboards for bragging rights rather than simple activity indicators of all players in a locale. If you ever engaged in PMF or Powerplay wars or controlling areas you'd want to find out who it was and in what numbers as it happens, not the day after.
The traffic report tells players whether anyone is about.Just knowing someone is about is enough so you don't ignore that area. You know someone is about from the activity report already.Just knowing someone is about is enough so you don't ignore that area..
? All this hypothetically would come in the form of what we have now- scannable NAVs with logs for a set period of time, better station reports.Yes, the GAME has that information. As in the game engine. Who in the game world would be able to collate all that info and why aren't they in power already?
And as I explained, the traffic reports are extremely primitive. The traffic report tells players whether anyone is about.
Nope, you assume a big brother world where none is.? All this hypothetically would come in the form of what we have now- scannable NAVs with logs for a set period of time, better station reports.
And what if you want to stop them before they start? You know someone is about from the activity report already.
Maybe, but that has nothing to do with the suggestion. And as I explained, the traffic reports are extremely primitive.
