Newcomer / Intro Destroyed At Deciat

That's your normal day in Deciat, unfortunately.
Considering that all the new/inexperienced commanders go there to unlock Felicity, the baby seal clubbers flock the area.
Naming and shaming is forbidden, but everyone knows the usual suspects.

The best way to deal with it is avoiding it altogether, either by logging in solo, or unlocking the other engineer that does FSD engineering (Elvira Martuuk).

If you are particularly masochistic, however, you can read the system chat in Deciat, and get the urge to tear your eyes out.

Call it a rite of passage and then don't fly in Open when you're near the engineers.

Also, when flying in open, look at your radar upon entering a new system. Look for hollow squares or hollow home bases expecially. These are other Commanders...

Some will be friendly, some will not...

Naming and shaming is not allowed here AFAIK...or at least its very frowned upon.

You can always block them if you really want to keep visiting engineers in Open - but that means you expose yourself to being killed by each of them since you dont really know who's going to gank you. (edit: that is, at least until you build your block lists)

However, you can check the supercruise an see if some hollow rectangle or trigangle wants to position behind you - but anyway, as a newplayer flying a non-engineered ship you'll be a certain victim against most of the gankers

I see. Well, like I said I'm too green to know how to be mad. I still haven't fired any weapons except to harvest a meta alloy.

Strange how civilization is showing a tendency to protect criminals these days. :)

If I switch to solo for a session to engineer does my wealth, ships, inventory stay the same going in and coming out?

kinda makes you think maybe fdev should have made the first engineer invites only trigger when players have a certain amount of playtime in the game or have reached a certain rank in the various roles.

They dont really serve much of a purpose for players who are so new that they're still learning how the game works.

Actually, if you play the game normally, that's exactly what happens - the engineer invites are a milestone after certain amount of time and achievement in the game.
But that's not how people play the game. They play the game by googling "the fastest way to unlock engineers" and do that instead, forgetting to play the game while they're doing it. :LOL:

Another point to mention about ganks is that gankers usually appear only in select systems, due to a simple fact that if you wish to gank ppl in a random system, your waiting time for an occasion might count in hours. Deciat, Shinrarta, also the current CG system are in top of that list and it's worth switching to Solo if you're not sure you can survive.

Just telling that so you don't feel you're kind of stuck in solo before you make a significant progress with yor ships. Inara has traffic and security report too, if you care to check - will give you the idea where you can likely meet ppl, some of which surely joined the dark side.

Search your last contact before you was destroyed, and block that. Log in to solo and run that deciat run again.

And when you ever go to open block always that one who destroyed you. Block the ganker, always block the ganker.
