Frame Rates at the bottom of OSD.

1440P Highest graphics settings

RTX 2070 Super at stock
Ryzen 5800X at 4.9Ghz
32GB (2X 16GB) T-Force Vulcan Z, 3200MT/s DDR4 at 3800MT/s
WD Blue PCIe3 NVMe

Did you mean to timestamp to the bit where clouds knocked you down to 14fps? ;)

Either way, yes that's all lovely. But your perfectly decent rig hitting those broader numbers doesn't really address my arguments. IE:

A) Server health is still bad with the increased player count:

Which we can see in the way the woeful NPCs fail to shoot at you once in these clips ;)

B) Client frame rates will be impacted if those players mass in greater numbers than before.

Which isn't something you tested in this vid ¯\(ツ)/¯

(But was tested in the prior vids. And the frame rate was poor. Very poor...)

Hang on let me look around, I'm sure I've got a couple of old autoexec.bat and config.sys files around that could help, and a copy of himem.sys, I'm sure they'll help!
I see your autoexec.bat and raise you a custom autoexec.bat with two boot options, one for general 'net browsing, the other will ask you if you really want to load all these drivers or just want (a) himem.sys and (b) SC.

One lets you play SC. The other doesn't. Your choice.

Star Citizen turns any decent gaming PC into a posh toaster...considering I can run practically everything else I play at 100-200fps+ on mental detail @1440p on my mid to high-ish end setup. Optimisation isn't a term Ci~G are familiar with :)

I dunno. They seem to have done a lot of optimisation already.

Interestingly it seems that their culling itself is now pretty decent in SC. They're sometimes just rendering the toilet. Full in-the-moment fidelity achieved!

The vid vape shared is an interesting watch:

But of course performance is still super poor in city locations. So if it ain't greeble overload, what the hell is it?

That guy's guesstimate seems to be that the CPU is perpetually querying the SSD re stuff that's been loaded there (and is perpetually waiting on it)

So maybe it is still greeble overload after all ;)

(And it all leaves out the elephant in the toilet which is server performance. Which is bad everywhere ;))

Kind of begs the question, where does the future performance headroom come from?

Thankfully the grand leader has it figured out. Chris's Law states:

'Wait for the next gen. And then the next one. No not that one...'

Server cap is increasing after all....

Last week, in preparation for the upcoming launch of Alpha 3.17.2, we opened up the Public Test Universe to all players. Those of you who joined the PTU will have also seen that we tested several new player caps from 75 to 120 players per server. Now, I know that we previously said we had no plans for an increase in player cap on the live servers... however the results of said tests have been so promising, that things have changed. For this reason, we are now exploring increasing the cap for the live release of Alpha 3.17.2. We're still testing/reviewing and will share more information, including what cap we end up going with, very soon.

The strange thing is they do, sort of, react to me.

They notice me, look at me, even run towards me, they just don't shoot at me.....

Just been banned from the watercooling uk forum after a genuine question from me turned into a proper flame war (banned for persistent heckling and abuse)...and here was me thinking anally retentive patronising fan boys only stuck to sites relating to Star Citizen

I've spent 45 euros on the alpha, nothing more. When you can go past the bugs, SC is a really fun and enjoyable game. I don't have a count of hours played but I think I've at least 200 hours and I started playing from a time when every 3 months, we had a full wipe.
On the other side, no need to add a macro to track the relevance of fun factor as explained by other posters, they all deny it... for a video game... as if the fun factor was not the reason number one for a gamer to play a game and spend money on it ! And also the fun factor being the reason number one why the funding is exploding.

By your own logic, you don't think SC is fun: you've only spent €45 and played for 200 hours in three years (an average of 1.3hr a week).
