Fighter Assistance?

 Hey all, I was out near a nav beacon watching a Cmdr engaging a Viper. I thought nothing of it, but I noticed that the Viper was green to me and the Cmdr was orange/yellow. Though I was tempted to swoop in and possibly take a shot or two myself to see if I could steal the kill, I just hung back and continued to watch. Then I thought... I wonder how difficult it would be for FD to maybe allow us to com the friendly to see if they 'needed assistance'. It could be a pre programmed hail for a green NPC in distress that was a friendly like 'Do you need assistance?' And depending on how much damage he had it could just message back anything like 'No, I got this' to 'Taking heavy damage please assist!' At which point his attacker would go Red and Wanted allowing me to engage him. Maybe getting a small bonus for assisting a friendly. I think it would really add to the immersion to the game and open up lots of scenarios for combat and support. FD What do you think? Can you make it so...?

I like this idea. Adds for more gameplay choices involving factions. Let the NPC handle it because you'll be going up against a player and don't want any PvP or help him because he's an ally to your chosen side.

It's genuniely upsetting watching that video after playing the game... combat's nothing like that. At one point, a ship does an entire barrel roll in about a second. It would take me about 8 seconds. Also, when they do the trench run, the ship dips under a part of the ship really quickly.

Sadly we just don't have that kind of control. I'd love to see a video of players re-creating those movements.

I know it's mainly for show, but as it's done in the style we'd expect (viewed from the cockpit) the casual viewer would expect to be able to do that. Guess that's why they did the video that way... just a shame it's not like that in game. I'd love fast combat.
