Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Funny you should mention that.

Last week I was headed out in my Cutter to mine some Platinum. As the ship exited the station, there was an advertising sign on the right that said:

DON'T FORGET YOUR LIMPETS!

Cleared the auto-launch area, redocked and bought limpets.
Good for you that you took heed!

I am so accustomed to that flashing banner that I forget my limpets while blankly staring at it every time!

Having read a little more I see the Thursday tick is really the Powerplay tick ( or Prismatic Thursday as it could be known) and then we have the 'daily' tick that goes unnoticed by players like me who, until now, haven't taken too much notice of what's changed beyond where I can make a profit or kill someone - so shallow.

I'm UK BST too - having read through the BGS sub forum it could be a cache issue and when I go back in system having been logged out the changes may have been made?
I think it is a fair bet you would at least have to leave and return to the system for the instance to reload. As best as I can remember the conflict zones have always gone overnight. I don't play all night although I've played unitil 1am or so a few times.

So I outfitted my newly decorated Python to give core mining a good, honest try.

So I'm looking good, I'm feeling good, and I head out to a Monazite hot spot and after about 4 asteroids I find a core. So I launch my charges, get to where I think it's enough, then I back off a bit and I wait for the detonation.

It works to perfection, splitting the asteroid into about 5 large pieces. I then highlight a chunk of Monazite, rotate around the chunk to get it in view, and blast it off the rock with my abrasion blaster.

I'm so giddy! It's working!

I launch a collector limpet to go get it and nothing happens. I target the Monazite, still nothing happens. I'm thinking it's a bug, so I'll just scoop it with the cargo hatch. I target it and then I see the warning:

YOU MUST FIT A REFINERY

Oh, I've never ever done than mining Monazite.

It was Musgravite 🤣

And I've only ever forgotten limpets 3 times....

Edit: loving the industrial look on the Python there. Spot on 👍

I've gone to fight Thargoids and forgotten my limpets...that scenario is life or death...

i do this like every other day.
I mean, i take of, then i remember "Limpets!" $%#$%, request docking permission, land etc. And this is never fast enough while flying a Cutter
Once i did it after jumping from a nearby system to Hip22460... so i had to fly to Bright Sentinel, get limpets and pop in one of the nearby CZ

When desperate, I tend to synth a batch, only to have a Scout pop out of nowhere to attack me the moment the limpet attaches to my ship, destroying it. 😭

Well, I've gone and done it again. (Blown a bunch of money, that is.) But reading about it, I just had to have one.

For me its ALWAYS when I'm in the fight and need to repair...but my current build is sans repair adn I use heat to decon now...

Yeah that's expensive though when compared to other synths, like basic synthing an entire SRV hull is much cheaper IIRC.

I got the Hazard kit for my T-6 which was built for Guardian site raiding. (and it has a build that i'm really proud off making use of the hot Colonia bridge FSD, but without toasting when engaging the fsd and a really clever set of power priorities)

I cant wait to test those flood lights in a dark site :)

Found a couple of ammonia worlds with rings, one is a moon.

Meanwhile, back in the bubble..

I had almost a week off due to some computer maintenance and rearrangements. Pros and cons I guess. Ultimately, I'm looking forward to further overcompensating for such an unrequested intrusion of plain reality, this weekend, by playing plenty.

In fact, I'm running on a gtx 1660 for now instead of rtx 2080 - so it also stands to reason I must play more to really spend the same total amount of important graphical computation.

Ammonia worlds are rare? I know I've found more ELW than Ammonia worlds on this trip. I wonder how rare an Ammonia moon is with rings? Perhaps a large payout for it?
