Question about fleet carriers

Further up in the thread someone said 37 million credits a week, the sort of money you can supposedly easily make with a carrier IF you stay around the bubble, however if you head in the black, it's a constant drain on your resources!

That's like buying a Ferrari for one million Euros/Pounds/Dollars etc, THEN having to pay them a couple of thousand a week for the privilege of keeping it!! :0 :D .

I make $100m+ per week easily out in the black, I also don't have all services, many of which are unnecessary, and some I only activate when I need them, $37m a week is for everything and all running all the time, I get away with around $10-$12m per week depending on how many jumps I do with the carrier, making enough money to pay maintenance is trivial. Also you should be thanking us beta testers, the initial maintenance per week in the beta was 10x the current cost, and jump times were 2 hours+.

If maintenance is your concern a carrier isn't for you. The real cost is the Tritium at 50 million a tank. I can get through that quite quickly if I'm bouncing back and forth between Guardian sites and the Witch Head or Pleiades.
Well it's not the biggest concern, the 5 billion initial purchase price and maybe extra 5 billion upgrade cost is enough to stop 95% of us every getting anywhere near owning a carrier!

As said further up, the most credits I've ever had at once was about 2 billion, when most of that was from a particularly bumper CG payout, while I now have about 1.3 billion, while the most I ever saved on my own was about 500 million and I've been playing the game since the PS4 launch! :D .

As they said... if you have to ask how much?, most probably you cannot afford it

And no, top maintenance fee with all services activated is: 34,5 millions credits per week.
Add to that 100k credits for each jump

But, you dont really need to have all services activated - if you are on your own out there in the black you dont need shipyard and outfitting - that's 11.5 millions credits less upkeep (or you can install them but keep them deactivated - in case someone out there might need them - for a cost of 3.3 millions)

Which immediately tells us your priorities are building ships. If you saw a carrier as a priority you would be generating the credits.

It's worth remembering that carriers are in essence a long term goal that's for players who have basically done everything. With 17 billion in assets and every ship I could want the carrier represents something I have to do with my credits while cutting out some of the things like traveling times to Haz RESs/ CZs that I've done a million times before.

5 billion is a lot for a stock carrier, however it does seem to be for those players who had nothing else to spend credits on. Looking around at the various system maps, it seems a lot of players fit that criteria.

Its was very easy to make the money, its still is easy. Once you figure out what method you like. Farming pirates, trade, mine, whatever. Then best to stack another 3 - some number away. Then Inara tells you your covered for some number of years, and you don't think about it no more :)

Well like I said, between the engineer, materials and credits grind, I haven't found anything particularly easy to do in this game!

(Nor do I get a massive amount of time to play games anymore - life problems! :0 :D .)

100 mil in the black doing what? if i may ask, exploration? and what do u do for tritium if i may ask also

My fully functioning carrier out in the black.
Dunno why l bother lol.
Costs about 37 mill a week with jumps added. And like previously posted it's easy to make 100+ mill a week mapping and bios.
Just think it's nice to have all the bells working maybe someone will hop aboard stow a few ships etc. Even dodgy folks are allowed on.
But yeah I've yet to see any "guests".

Only get a carrier if you know how to make 40 mill a week. Then your always making a few credits.

I buy 10000 tons of tritium in the bubble.
Mapping elws waterworlds terrraformables ammonia worlds, water giants, etc it all adds up

FYI, i made most my money trading, i have a tri-base system where i do most of my outsource missions. I look primarily at mining missions but, i never go actually mine the ore, i just jump to a station selling it and buy it and return it for usually 50 mil, or usually way more than half the cost to buy it. I have dont this for so long that my hired fighter pilot is not only Elite but standing just under 10 billion =16% lol (Rediculous). So now money is not a concern, im close to 40 billion in cash and prob another 10 billion in assets, which do not include the carrier. Tritium how and where to mine and purchase once in the black however is another concern

P.S. Not bragging just sharing little info. i have a very small squadron, the other 3 members rarely play. I play alot and whenever i can, I do love the game but feel a little nervous about leaving the bubble. I am basically on my own

That's on you and you alone.

I've only been playing since March of this year and already have every ship I want and 2.8 billion in the bank. I just play the game and enjoy it. Eventually, a few months from now, I'll have the money for my carrier.

Let me repeat myself:

I just started playing in March of this year. I'm on my own too. Have been since the beginning.

Presently, I'm in my Krait Phantom out here doing exobiology and exploration / mapping planets.

Be fearless. The worst that can happen is a rebuy.

Credits; Silver buy at 33k sell at 48k easy 15k profit/ton.
Raw; surface scanner for geo bio sites.
In EDO they aren't confined to discrete instances so spread over quite large areas but Thargoid spikes and Guardian sites (brain trees) actually offer quite good hit rates for raw mats in EDO.
Manufactured; HGE fulfill my needs here, places like B Carinae are my go-to.
Encoded; fast ship and wake scanner at an orbital installation gets what I need quickly.
