Hi folks

Ok, this is my first time post on this forum with (hopefully...:confused:) a really simple question.

I've read the FFE manual and it seems to imply that there are back issues of the newspapers available (e.g. 11 issues remaining) but doesn't tell you how read them.

Does anyone know if this is possible (and how to do it)? Again, sorry if this is a stupid question!

When you begin the game you will be able to read the latest edition of each of the five newspapers and you'll have 11 updates remaining.

Every 28 days a new edition of each is released (you'll see a message at the bottom right of the screen when this happens). When the first one appears you'll then have 10 issues remaining (and so on)...

Perhaps i'm misunderstanding you, steve, but i can't see what that's got to do with back issues.

AFAIK there is no way to view back issues.

It's a subscription service. You start with one years worth of each paper and it goes down each month until it runs out. you then have to buy at least another years subscription.

I think the OP was assuming the "remaining issues" were the back issues. Now I come to read it again I'm not so sure, I'll have to dig out the manual sometime and have a look.

That's the way I read it. How many journal entrys ate there at the start of the game though? (too lazy to look at the moment ;)).

11 IIRC.

I think you start with a year subscription which gives one current issue and eleven left.

Every chance i'm being blonde, but i'm sure he's asking if it's possible to view back issues (i.e. issues that have been superceded by a new issue).

Fool-proof indicator that he mistook remaining subscription for back issues.

Besides, all the issues you get to read during your subscription end up in your ship's database where they are freely accessible by simply scrolling through the text.

This seems to show that he is asking about back issues, but is confused. It seems more logical that he would ask this too, as it is a feature that would make sense, whereas the "issues remaining" thing really is self-explanatory.

Only the OP knows, and he's keeping quiet!

You can scroll down and see previous messages, you only get the one message when you start the game though.

Heh heh, I get back from a few days with no internet service :eek: and there's much confusion to be had...

I understood the original post to mean that there were 11 back issues to read at the very beginning of the game. This is not true; there is only January 3250's newspapers to read. You start to have access to back issues in February, when you can scroll down to read January's again. And so on...

That's ok. I didn't know the Eiffel Tower had been moved to Mars by 3250...
