I assume lens flare tweak is to make sure people running FX=off/low will be able to see the ThargStar.
? Do I need tinfoil?
I JUST posted that to the EDCD Discord and was ready to post here - well donWhen opened in a HEX editor, there is
at the end of this text. translates to "Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it is not real""
I do wonder if it's an oblique reference to this known issue ...Wait, why is this message embedded in the PNG? I just discovered it too, like some before me.

This was discovered by CMDR Majkl

puts on titanium grade tinfoil hat
I found the coded message. Not sure what it means though, is this just an easter egg or should I be looking for the next step?
I was curious if it was a reference to the recent Galnet post about the star butthole not showing up in the FSS.
I think the first report was this:COUGHOUGHOGUH
There was binary embedded at the end of the .png image, when translated from Binary to ASCII it reads:
"Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it is not real"
Clue?
0D 0A 0D 0A is a line breakAlso one last thing, just before the binary code, there's 4 bytes of 0D 0A 0D 0A and I can't see thenm in any other PNG file I have
Good news! I disable Lens Flare in the XML files because Lens Flare is an artifact of camera optics with multiple lenses.
The human eye only has one lens, therefore thankfully is not affected by this extremely annoying and overused nuisance
of an in-game effect. Same goes for idiotic Film Grain and Chromatic Aberration. o7
Fair enough, I guess an oversight when using a converter. I've played around with the image and not seen too much, there's a weird void of stars in areas with stars ont he other side0D 0A 0D 0A is a line break
0D = CR = Carriage Return and 0A = LF = Line Feed0D 0A 0D 0A is a line break
I tried playing around with the image as well in Pinta, but no dice here either... I bet Sally is having a great 'ol laugh right now :')Fair enough, I guess an oversight when using a converter. Yeah, both are used for windows, where as unix uses only one. It's been so long that I forgot the bytes. I haven't done any meaningful reverse engineering in years.0D = CR = Carriage Return and 0A = LF = Line Feed
I had a look at the creation date of the file in the adobe metadata in the file and it says 5th of Sept, which is when the galnet article about the Anomoly appeared.I was curious if it was a reference to the recent Galnet post about the star butthole not showing up in the FSS.
Pilots’ Federation ALERT
Reports from independent explorers indicate that an unusual visual phenomenon has appeared in deep space.
A distant point of light, described as a reddish-orange flare with faint radial patterns, has been observed close to the Barnard's Loop nebula. It is thought to have appeared only recently. Universal Cartographics has confirmed that the location of this ‘flare’ does not match any previously catalogued stellar body or star.
Early attempts to verify these reports have noted a strange response when the same region of space is observed through a full spectrum system scanner (FSS). No definitive target can be isolated, but claims of a faint background noise generated by FSS audio converters have been asserted.
Commander Eva Llewellyn, speaking to Vox Galactica, remarked:
“I’m used to the FSS making all sorts of strange noises, but listening to this thing – comet, solar flare, whatever it is – gives me goosebumps. Something feels off, all right. The scanner tells me there’s nothing there, nothing to focus on. Can’t say I agree. Still, smarter people than me will figure out the truth of it all, I guess.”
At present, it is unknown if this is a naturally occurring stellar event. Pilots are attempting to gather more data, but as yet no authority or scientific body has provided any official analysis of the phenomenon.
It would be worse if you looked like a number though.I am not a number! I'm a free man! (Ironically who looks like Gordon Freeman!)

Hi sally, quite curious to see what else comes with this small update ;-) By any chance, do you have some info regarding some still persistent issues like Anti-Aliasing? Would be great to know whats planned on that front, since that issue reduces the visual quality of Odyssey drastically.Greetings Commanders///
Tomorrow, September 8, we will be releasing a small, client side update containing the following///
Adjustment to lens flares so that they are now appearing on all quality settings and are visible at the correct ranges.
Servers will be offline between the hours of 08:00 BST and 10:00 BST in order for deployment to take place. An update will then be available to you shortly after.
Fly safe.
