Community Event / Creation The Buckyball Racing Club Presents - Mischief Mile: Rebooted (Magic 8-Ball Championship, Race 7)

Thanks for hosting the event Ashnak. Found it quite enjoyable.

One step up, psykit dragged her Federal Corvette Epaphus No across the course to reach 11th place - unfortunately not good enough to stay out of the one-point-club for the Classics/Crazies class. When asked for a comment on this race, she replied "I'm never flying an unengineered corvette again."
I totally agree with Psykit on that one 😄

I just did the Galaxy map plotting all the way, so got to Fuelum in 7 jumps. I did check in EDDiscovery to see if there was a faster way, but that also said 7 jumps was the quickest.
Clearly it was lying :D

Shame really as the 45 seconds saved would have put me in fourth, although tantalisingly 1 second behind Alec. So maybe it's the best 😅

Fantastic work though to finish in Fourth place yourself and huge congratulations to everyone who took part! Thanks Ashnak for organising and running this race, it's been great fun and frustrating in equal measure :D

Also can we just appreciate that 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places were separated by only 8 seconds!
I noticed the trip and Fuelum had a couple of shorter jumps and given how far I was off the podium I guessed there was jump to be saved somewhere. I took some weight off the Cobra to simulate the fuel going down and saw it dropped to 6 jumps. Did the same at both ends and compared to pick the route.

Can't believe how close 4th to 7th was.

Thanks to everyone that responded - it was indeed filters. I had OBAFGKM set, overlooking the fact that if I can't scoop then I can include all the non-scoopables. Getting to Fuelum in 7 jumps instead of 8 plus a trip to the Galmap would have saved me a minute or 2; so, I am a right proper wally - but at least I didn't go via Jackson's Lighthouse ;) Trying to manually plot a 6-jump route is too advanced for me right now, but I'll get there.

Big thank you to @Ashnak for organising an excellent race, congrats to the podium placers, well done to everyone else and welcome to @Kyle Stryker I enjoyed our brief chat in Mirateje last night.

I shall now settle down to watch everyone's videos to see what else I should have been doing differently, and then start plotting my revenge on @Draig Seren <insert maniacal laughter here> for next month.

Thanks again everyone!

Can I add my thanks to Ashnak for organising a great race and to @Arrowroot 66 for the competition - see you next month...
Having spent too many hours on Friday trying and failing to fing a six jump route from Tepech to Fuelum I'll be watching the video's with great interest. I used the Spansh route plotter to start with but that overestimated the fuel useage as it quickly became clear that I didn't need the suggested 4 refuel stops, so I used Fuelum and Skripochka Survey (30 ls) in Allowair.
I think my station approach needs more work so it's back to watching Alec & Bruski's "Buckyball for Dummies" video's for me!

So if all the jumps had been prespoolable (meaning there was enough fuel left in the tank to begin charging the next jump) there's essentially no additional time spent. Doing that multiple times to enable prespooling the FSD drive would've been the fastest way for this race (although I didn't realize until later).
Yeah with being able to position myself for refuelling right at the drop in point or close to it while keeping the next hop in view the time lost was less than I had expected. With a different limpet controller setup we could have saved that extra second, too ;)
