Console Copy Portal Opens Tomorrow

As part of my Discovery Scanner post, I mentioned we would give you all a heads up on information around the launch of the portal itself ahead of time - my exact line being "We will follow up with the specifics, for example where to find the portal guide and how to access it ahead of time."

I just want to give you a heads up that the expected portal opening time is currently sat at "mid-morning BST" (so a window of around 10:00-11:00 our work time).
I'm afraid I've let you down a little in expectation in that this is all I have for you currently, until we jump in tomorrow morning to bring you the necessary links to the portal and help guide once available, however myself and Bruce will be on hand with you as we move.

We're excited to welcome our Console Commanders across to the Galaxy on PC side!

Don't forget, you can find the necessary info for all of the previous statements and FAQs in posts such as this one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/console-profile-transfers-faq-and-expected-date.603979/

PLEASE don't forget the following (I can't stress this enough. It's keeping me awake):
  • Your original console profile will remain playable.
  • Only one profile may be copied per copy of Elite Dangerous.
  • This will be a one-time only process.
  • The portal will remain open for the foreseeable future and Commanders will be given plenty of advance warning prior to decisions on when the portal looks set to close.
Which elements of my console profile will NOT be copied to PC?
  • Your Commander name if it is already in use by another PC player. You will be given the chance to choose a new name as part of the process.
  • ARX Balance.
    • Please ensure that you purchase desired customisations before you complete the transfer.
    • Any unspent Arx will remain on your original console profile
  • Squadron membership.
  • Friends lists, Block lists and Private Groups.
  • Current mission progress.
  • Fleet Carriers and their contents.
    • Fleet Carriers will not be copied over. Please decommission these ahead of going through the process so that your resulting Credit balance will be included.
    • Any modules will be decommissioned at the discounted rate if previously aquired as discounted and then repurchased at the full rate on the PC account.
    • This also applies for any discounted purchase Fleet Carriers.

If I don't want to go through the trauma of deleting my existing commander's save, will instigating the copy from my XBONE to PC overwrite it? It may sound silly, but putting the chap to the sword is a tough one, even if the XBONE commander has all the progress!

The current commander on both platforms has the same name though. Perhaps I will need to murder myself? :(

Also, I presume that ARX purchases are separate to the commander? So If i bought some stuff on PC, that same stuff will be available to any new commander, including my XBONE clone, with the added bonus that all the stuff I bought on the XBONE platform will come with the clone? I think I've spent around £100 in ARX on the XBOX in total, so I'm hoping all those skins/bobbleheads/paint jobs come with it!

hi sally, I appreciate your all trying to make this happen as quickly as you can but can you give us an eta on when it will be going live? It’s kinda mid afternoon now I think so just so I don’t have to just sit here refreshing the page over and over and can do other stuff while I wait.

Yes I realise that but I have Been waiting for a long time for this and I think the whole community has been very patient especially science this really should have been in place when they announced they were dropping console support.I don’t think asking what time it’s ready is too much….

In the same boat here Cmdr. I shelled out for a laptop for this reason. Last time I had a PC/laptop it had a floppy disc drive and a modem you hooked your phone on

How do I ask for the transfer from my xbox to pc please I'm confused on what I must do many thanks phl

A portal (as the devs have called it) will open today. I'm assuming a link to this will be posted by Bruce/Sally or it'll be posted on the Elite:Dangerous News web page. From there, nobody really knows what the process will be like. I assume instructions will be included, but it sounds like you'll need your FID, email you use to login to your PS/Microsoft account on console. That's about all we know of the process. Keep watching the forum, I know Sally will tell us when the portal is live!
