+1 - I've been running Elite Dangerous: Odyssey for about 8 months via Shield TV Pro. If you have a fast internet connection, and you stump up for the full fat "RTX 3080" membership, then you can expect to playing in 4K with 7.1 surround at 60fps with all graphics settings on their highest with no perceptible lag. That membership is £15/month (if you buy in a 6-month block) - far cheaper than building an equivalent PC that's only going become obsolete when the next graphics card is released ;-)

There are a few nagging issues that may particularly annoy console and/or living room players:

  • Every time you launch the game, it has to go through that planet generation routine, as you're effectively on a brand new PC/Graphics card each session
  • The ED Launcher prevents a smooth/seamless launch via Steam - you have to manually click* on a button to actually start the game
  • There's no pop-up keyboard* option for text entry (e.g. in Galaxy Map)
  • It doesn't seem to support any Flight HOTAS controllers at present
  • It's certainly not going to support the motion control and/or touchpad of the DualShock controllers.
* To solve mouse/keyboard issues, you can of course connect a mouse and keyboard... however I personally prefer to use the Geforce Now app's built-in keyboard/mouse overlay (hold Start button to activate).
it has the usb in the back? will my thrustmaster hotas not work? would love to play ED on my big screen tv downstairs in the living room

Hi Sally,

first thanks for all the updates, but I have got a question regrding email accounts, I use the same email for steam, frontier account and Xbox Live, I know you cant use the same emaill address fro different cMDR for steam and the frontier account.. but I could, and did do this for my xbox CMDR. so when I copy over my xbox cmdr to PC, can I move it to a new email address....

Speaking of the UK, This is the first time they had a King in my lifetime.. I don't know whether to congrats you or feel concerned. :p

You never been to Burger King yet? Sheesh

I'm Irish, so not personally my king... obviously wish him well and all that. I think he'll do ok and he's clearly grown as a person over the years.

I'm going to start mine sometime next week . I can imagine issues as people try and log on as soon as it starts . I've waited 6 months ? So another week or month won't make much difference to me . Also after forking out for a series X and new hotas ( before Consolegate) so funds and my technical know how will leave me a while before getting a PC to play . So no rush as long as it works .

I
No geforce now apps support flight sticks all of them are USB mouse. keyboard and pad

Thanks for your reply. Everything you mentioned has been my experience with GeForce Now. Still use it from time to time, if I don't want to use the flight stick or Voiceattack.

I'd kill for a decent kebab, around here they give you a tongue o nan hidden under meat and they think that's a king bab.

Can't go near King's Lynn, it's like near the Nor Witch

It seems that I have two different FIDs, one on Steam and one on PS. Is this the case for all CMDRs with a PC & a PSN account?
