Without Horizons 3.x , all the fun places are lost. Such as Bucky Ball racing locations, and all the rest fun and interesting systems discovered in the past 7+ years.
Thats why I said the option to upgrade, not forced to upgrade. I have never been to or taken part in the bucky ball stuff & nor do I plan to. These places are going to be lost eventually when Fdev finally retire 3.8 anyway, I would rather be able to take part in new content with friends than have access to 3.8 that will not receive new content. Thats just my personal choice, obviously you're going to have your own requirements.

But the 3hr and the 40mins are separate :)
Edit: And the 40 is never 40 - at least in Europe :sneaky:

The shards sites work fine in Odyssey. There's a thread dedicated to this, and I posted precise coordinates for various patches of shards for each planet.
I appreciate your effort and contribution to our gameplay. I've seen your post and I think it's in my "watched" threads to use for later. But I really like the POI functionality of Horizons and dislike the not-so-much-of-a-heatmap of Odyssey. I think it's several steps backwards. Maybe it's not FDev's fault entirely, but the players who upon Odyssey's release complained because they couldn't use the heatmap properly, so now we have a possibility map.

The missing POI feature is - always in my personal view - a missed opportunity. We could be given the opportunity to create POIs on planets, like bookmarks. For my playstyle, I usually visit the HIP 36601 sites to fill up my stocks so that I can deal with engineering in one go, I rarely fly over planets for sightseeing. I remember the Eyeball MkI period not fondly, and I happily disabled the 3rd party tools for planet navigation when we got the bio POIs. I just hate going in circles...
Again, thanks for your efforts. o7.

In you come...Can you tell I'm maybe a bit...well.
lol am glad it is not just me who has days like this :D

Someone asked earlier and i dont think it was answered... for those who have Odyssey but who want to play on Horizons 4.0 (due to friends who dont own ED:O and us not instancing together) will we have to have multiple installs or is it the same install for both games just with some content walled off? I dont really want to have to put aside 100gb on my SSD for multiple copies of the same game unless i have to.
Thanks

No problem. I was passing HIP 36601 yesterday on my way back to the bubble so I dropped in on the three planets with mats I needed to top off, and was on my way again pretty quickly.

The heatmap does actually show different shades of blue, planetary textures notwithstanding. I just haven't figured out whether darker or lighter is the go-to zone. Wherever I land, the feature I'm looking for always seems to be somewhere else.

On thing with the shards in Odyssey... you can blast them with the rocket launcher/shotgun/plasma pistol on foot, then scoop them with the SRV.

If I need lots I just bomb the whole area with mines from the ship, having already deployed the SRV to one side. A spare SRV is useful in case your aim is badly off.

From EDO/EDH Divide to a Trivide.

Nice.
It's not a bad move by FDev and I don't understand why people complain. Horizons stay with Horizons and Odyssey with Odyssey. It gives the Horizons players the opportunity to test their pcs for Odyssey performance and go for it with more confidence. It's a hardware divide, nothing more.

People should stop looking gift horses in the mouth. The mode people choose to play can depend only on their PC's performance and the version specific bugs they prefer.

Odyssey can still use a lot of performance enhancement. I hope that when all these software shifts complete, the devs will have some time for additional bug fixes. For example, I've seen my srv's lights shine through walls and floors in settlements, especially between the floor-wall join.

Hey - people complain about having to click a mouse/press esc to skip a cutscene. Adding an extra option to the launcher is approaching apocalypse-level angst, which is only beaten by being unable to access a server because it's being overloaded by CMDRs getting something for free!

It’s the latter. But as of right now the info is that you will literally be unable to launch Horizons 4.0 to play with Horizons players if you own Odyssey.

really? wow that is an insane decision if true, and not just a communication burp.

I find that highly unlikely to be the case so am gonna hope it is poor communication. 🤞
