Question for Derin!

One of the original Q&As talked about 9 states for settlements:

Q. What permanent states can the new Settlement outposts have, like conquered or destroyed etc.
The states are as follows: Active, abandoned, war, damaged, Online, Online Damaged, Offline, Offline Damaged and Conflict Zone
I think that's changed to something like: Active, offline, offline damaged, conflict zone. Can he tell us about how that came about? I can't even think what all those states would have done to a settlement, are we missing out on a lot of cool stuff that didn't quite work out? Or are there still nine states and I need to stare harder :)

Questions for Derrin

1. Are there plans to expand the amount of layouts for the settlements?

2. Are there plans to add more things to do at settlements for mission objectives?

@sallymorganmoore Any chance the ED Standard sale is going to extend to the Xbox store? Since it was taken off GamePass it has not been less than $24 and is currently at $30. There is no way in hades that I'm paying 600% more for this game than what's listed on all the other sales channels. As a game that's receiving no further updates or content it really isn't worth more than the $5 listed on the frontier store.

Questions for Derrin

  1. Is there a new "engine" tech behind the Settlements, ie like the Planet tech has been re-written from the ground up to allow it to work with more flexibility (a nod to future potential for all the different possible planet types) or is it more about hand-crafting art assets built from the same engine as the bases in Horizons/Planet Coaster. I guess the question is, is it easily scalable for size and variety or anything unique about Odyssey Settlement compared to Horizons bases or Planet Zoo buildings (these have interiors).
  2. I love the art direction of the 70s sci fi of the Settlements and understand their scope about being "outpost" settlements on the fringe of society, but there is an interesting question about lore, is it by design of the lore that everything ends up looking the same in the bubble e.g. mass production of buildings needed to be built quickly or do you think there is an artistic apettite for more super-power of even System power variation in architecture? The initial artist impressions of larger cities and in the ship designs show quite distinct design aestherics between powers.
  3. This leads to the 3rd question, is there scope/appetite to take the Settlements in the other direction, more distinct anarchy/pirate bases that are more like sci fi trope for the Blade Runner style sci fi e.g. Cyberpunk 2077
  4. I have enjoyed how Odyssey Settlements feel more embedded into the landscape, from the way the terrain seems to naturally flow around the Settlment, is this from the planet tech or does the Settlement creation work that bit out after the planet is generated? Also with the overall placement, is this a clever algorithm or just luck? E.g. some Settlements found inside ravines or on a flat shelf on the edge of a crater.
  5. How Is the NPC path-finding related to the new Settlement models, are they separate entities that are overlayed or are they the same thing? E.g. are any of the other POIs on a surface with NPCs walking about a type of "Settlement" or is NPC path-finding not actually an over-lay but directly responds to the barriers and openings around it e.g. at the beginning we saw NPCs walking off to their doom out into the wilderness? I would be nice to see NPCs on planet surface maybe doing more dynamic tasks that are not related to buildings or placed static objects.
  6. One of the great thrills of Settlements is to climb (jump) onto or one of the highest structures and look out at the often spectacular views, could the Settlement tech support ladders? Thinking of maintenance birds nests on super-tall strucutres that could not be jumped up, e.g masts and lookout posts
  7. Can the tech support linking Settlements with roads or other ground transport systems?
  8. Do you think Stealth needs reinforcing, e.g. new non-illegal ways to distract NPCs from their routine path

Wheely looking forward to having Derin on stream again. (y)

Question for Derin...answer carefully:

tea or coffee?

OK then a Couple of Questions for Derin / CM team ;-

1. There was an Interstellar Initative where crops in agricultural worlds were devastated and removed from the commodities market. To counter this, vast amounts of Agronomic Treatment had to be supplied to target worlds to restore crops to the commodities market. Is that mechanic still in place? E.g. Since the Initative Lave has only regained one commodity (Coffee). We'd like to try and restore Lave to full production, is this still possible?

2. In Galnet news, Salvation was said to be on the glorious prospect mega-ship. However, in the cut-scene, he appears to be on the bridge of a ship called the Nemisis. Can someone please confirm if this was a small mistake or not. Its just I am sick and tired of the "Salvation is dead! / No he's not because of Nemisis!" argument. Please, for my sanity's sake!

No frameshift live this week? The last one was 2 weeks ago (on 2022-09-07) so I expected to get a frameshift live this week.

Questions for Derin:

1: I haz weekly sadz over the state of Powerplay. Will 2023 bring joy to this feature and be 'the one' that gets the dev time?

2: The Asp Scout is like the tale of the Ugly Duckling. Will it see love and become the heavily armed death swan we know it really should be?

Good questions I'd also like to hear the answers to. I'm not sure that it will be possible to get them though.

1. might depend on whether Derin gets these questions beforehand or live. Might have to check something to be sure.
2. could be something Frontier don't want to answer. If it was "No, that's not a mistake. winkwinknudgenudge" that would probably be too big a giveaway Frontier don't want to tell us now. IF - obviously.

The state of reading around here :)

Tell people there is a livestream and get asked if there is a livestream ..

Ask people for questions about Odyssey settlements and Installations (who dey?) and get asked about the BGS and Powerplay :D

Let's just hope the VR crowd don't find this or it could get completely derailed ;)

Still no new content.
Funny that we are still in the shadow of Odyssey with the console copy the latest dev time muncher.
What we talking about now, around 15/16 months with Odd patching and very little content.
Ooh yeh chasing the red dot around the sky box for the last month is pure comedy btw, what a waste of time, lol.
