Q2 VR AirLink Shimmer

o7

So i have particular issue with AirLink Quest2 and shimmer.
Everything that is further away than 2-3m meters shimmers badly. I would assume this is the norm but when i am using Virtual Desktop with the same settings is does not shimmer but VD lags over network for me and is unplayable since beginning of the year. Increasing HMD image, resolution in oculus/steamvr or upscaling method does not change it, it always shimmers. Other VR games run fine, Horizons 4.0 does not shimmer as well. Same issue with wireless and USB 3.1. Anyone had similar issue maybe and found solution to this?

Assuming you're not talking about Anti-Aliasing, it's probably Sync Spacewarp. To me it looks like a heat haze sort of effect; is that what you mean? Or do you mean the edges of everything crawl, in which case that is Anti-Aliasing.

Look for Oculus Tray Tool. You can set that up to disable SSW in Elite. I don't know why the effect is not really seen in VD, but with regular link (and I presume Air Link too) it's very noticeable.

I wonder if it is bitrate related.
At really low values it looks like shimmer.

One way of checking is if you use wired oculus link and use the debug tool that comes with Oculus Home and then set the bit rate low to something ridiculous like 5 and see if the shimmer is similar

I was hoping it was the bitrate or spacewarp, but I have disabled spacewarp and increased the bitrate to 500 and it is the same. It looks kinda like if things in the distance were rendered at a lower resolution with elite edge crawaling like you mentioned. Anyway, I have managed to reduce VD latency so it is playable now. I am now able to play at PC ultra preset with a stable 80-90 fps except when docked at space stations. Thanks to spacewarp, the graphics look nice because they look the same as on a flatscreen, less crisp, but that's an HMD limitation. Thanks anyway o7

Not sure I understand if your talking in-game E: D, but for some reason pushing volumetric lighting to ultra handles shimmering, at least in a RES (silly, I know).
