Warthog compatible?

I have a Thrustmaster warthog HOTAS and i was wondering if anyone has this and uses it in game? Is mapping a nightmare, or pretty easy?
Any help would be appreciated.

Mapping is reasonably easy - especially since the Warthog doesn't have too many axes or buttons ;); ED is limited by that (old) 32 button limit in Windows. I've read a few people using the Warthog, but it's (on its own) not one of the recommended sticks for ED - it lacks a third axis.
Ah yes - the trap quite a few people seem to fall into is to map the (analog) axes to the digital control inputs - directional controls in ED can take either analog or digital inputs (or both, with at least two alternative sources), and you are allowed to map (physical) analog sources to digital inputs. They then show up here later, complaining that their stick in ED only works if they push it to the limits.

If you want a few examples for mappings, check edrefcard.

Warthog has a ton of buttons and with scripting there is basically no limit.
Warthog (the stick + throttle) works perfectly for ED, ignore the peeps who are saying you need a third axis stick for ED, that's absolutely not true (no matter if PvE or PvP).

What you want with Warthog is this:

If you want to get serious with Warthog for ED this is a absolute must have script/setup.
You got plenty of buttons/mechanics/controls on your stick and throttle for everything in the game and ofc. for the third axis with the just linked advanced script.
This is a highly serious advanced script, if you want to get a pro in ED with Warthog, you will need this.
You won't get far with just normal mapping, without any scripting, thankfully, aussiedroid did all this already for us...

I started out on PC with a Warthog after about a year playing on PS4 with a T-Flight HOTAS. Setup and programming was a breeze, as I just used the in-game settings for most of it. The only issue I had was the plastic gimbals developed play after about 50 hours of play. The entire Warthog has been in a box since then, all replaced with Virpil gear.

Thrustmaster used to make high quality gear. Plastic at the heart of an all-metal joystick is not high quality.

I have been using my warthog setup with this game since I bought it in '16. Works great. I have throttle, stick, rudders, and an analog hat on my throttle for thrusters. Of course this could be way too much for some here... ;)

I had rudder pedals as well on PS4 and PC. My Warthog was purchased early last year. Either the quality went downhill recently, or I just had bad luck.

Sorry to hear that.

Near as I can remember, I think I've had my warthog hotas for about 8 years. I have done some tinkering to the joystick mechanisms to smooth things out a bit and remove some of the slop. Reduced the spring tension slightly as well. I also replaced the little 'button' analog joystick on the front of the throttle with one I bought online that has a larger hat and longer movement arc that allows me better thruster control. Oh, and I had to repair a broken wire on one of the joystick hats (don't remember which one).

I do a lot of flight simming and some spaceship flying, so these sticks have gotten a ton of use over the years. I went a bit crazy from late '16 through '20 and put thousands of hours on this game with these sticks. So far, so good. :)
