Anyway, it seems that is going according to the generic plan, which is always in effect when we have Feds vs anyone_else, which is: Feds are going to win undisputed.
If the Feds keep going along with Hudson's plan of attacking anyone who looks at him a bit funny, in the end they're going to find they lost, no matter how much they win.

Competitive CG results involving the Federation in the new plot:

Caine-Massey vs Torval (January 3308): moderate Federal victory
Hudson vs Grom (October 3307): significant Federal defeat
Federation vs Defectors 2 (August 3307): significant Federal defeat
Federation vs Defectors (July 3307): significant Federal defeat
Federation vs Jupiter Division 2 (June 3307): Feds on both sides, the more official one won
Hudson vs Winters (May 3307): Feds on both sides, Hudson wins
Federation vs Nova Imperium (May 3307): narrow Federal defeat
Federation vs Jupiter Division (February 3307): Feds on both sides, the more official one won
Federation vs Empire (November 3306): significant Federal victory

Discounting the Fed vs Fed CGs, that's 2-4 against the Federation, with this one probably going to make it 3-4, but by a much narrower margin than most of the others.
(If you count Jupiter Division and Winters as "not the Federal government" to go for Hudson's score rather than the Federation's, and exclude Caine Massey for the same reasons, it's 4-4, heading for 5-4, which is better but still not "Feds always win")

They've not been anywhere near as strong in the new plot as they were in the old one.

I was going to point out how there apparently is no religious freedom in the Federation anymore, but this system they're attacking isn't even part of the Federation.

I think 12 hours after it started it was around 2:1? So the CG is very likely already decided. Would love to be wrong though.

what's up with the rarely spawning but advertised enemy spec ops? i don#t think i have seen that happen before this CG (Horizon 3.8).

play medium conflict zones... there the only option it can spawn

High has more drop choices when federation or empire can bring there capital and Capitan ships as well ... in to conflict zones Spec ops should be the lowest spawn chance and its normal for High CZ to be low spawn with spec ops
in medium to only option is spec ops, in low none spawn
In high its....
capital class defence or attack
Captain attack or defence
War zone correspondence attack or defend
Attack spec ops
So that's 1 out of 7 spawns that can be spec ops...
When its the same power on each side or only independence factions the capital ships will not be enabled this increases the chance of spec ops to 1 of 6...

Spec ops is the exception in high..

only doing MCZ as leveling a co-pilot.
the problem being: enemy spec ops are advertised, but the object is directly won (they never spawn).

but i think i have worked out what happens (in horizons 3.8.): this happens only if your side spawns spec ops as well.

weird bug introduced.

If your trying to use the over lapping CZ to get double or tripple pay that duplicate CZ will not have any spec ops in them so the overlap bug will auto complete spec ops as the duplicate over lap CZ will not have any spawning, so you auto complete and get a free 50K...,.

wasn't trying to do that intentionally, but that would explain it! ty.

This CG is on target to fail to reach tier 1 for the cult...
So a complete failure...
This still wont put an end to the But CGs allways reach tier 1 posts...

Not making bounties fast enough in Low CZs, and the others are really hard on the SLF this time.

It's also slightly worrying how much the player base appears to be in favour of paranoia, religious intolerance and Federal attacks on independent systems.

how much is needed for tier 1? already sitting at top 10% which didn't happen to me since Obsidian Orbital was build (and i was trying to proof a point to make top 10% in a sidey).

I have been fighting for the cultists. I would normally skip community goals centered around combat zones altogether but I feel like I need to participate in what is the first opportunity at FD-sanctioned anti-anti-xeno content (I think?). I'd forever feel like I should have participated here because of the thought that this might be FD gauging community support for less aggressive approaches to the thargoid storyline.

Anyway, it's making me acutely aware of why I hate (space) combat zones. Reloading my guns four times each combat zone sucks. I don't even care that enemies are bullet sponges, that's just whatever. But weapons across the board really need like twice the amount of ammo they currently carry because of said bullet sponginess. I don't want to just strap on four lasers and call it a day because that's even more boring than having to boost away from the melee so you can synth your ammo refills. It's frustrating; it breaks up the flow too much.

what are you using as a ship/weapon combo? and are your guns engineered? i'm using frag builds - ammo increased engineered - which can do 1 HCZ or 2 Medium CZ in medium ships, and 1 MCZ or two LCZ in small ships (cobra).
my overcharged multicanonn-smallship-builds (eagle, DBE, courier) can do 2 LCZ or 1 MCZ.
as a small ship cmdr i'm used to attack with a pack of npc friendlies, get a green wave going - if i do to many 1:1 with my MC builds i may run out of ammo in the 2nd CZ.

Combat zones are supposed to be hard. They're the endgame PvE content for non-Thargoid combat.

I have no idea what ship you're flying, but if you have to boost away from the melee every time you need to resynth then you're doing something wrong. You don't have to fly around and aggro every single enemy combatant before killing any of them!

I, for one, am happy to have a CG where on-foot players can't earn 5 times the rewards for the same effort expended, and with less risk. I play Elite because it's the only good space combat game available. I have no idea why people play Elite in order to play a sub-standard FPS, but it's nice that for once those of us who love Elite for what it has always been, aren't getting screwed in the CGs :)
