List updated!

Made a small adjustment to how Day Geckos are grouped under Gecko. Until the Gecko Type Group dissolves, all submissions asking for "Giant Day Gecko", "Madagascar Giant Day Gecko" and "Madagascar Day Gecko" will be lumped under Madagascar Day Gecko, as creating different subcategories like "Madagascar Day", "Madagascar Giant Day" and "Giant Day, Any" would greatly dilute the Actual Demand. A similar approach was already in place for Leopard Geckos, with "Common Leopard Gecko" and generic "Leopard Gecko" votes being lumped. Species Rank is preferred in this thread, but some Exclusions like these are inevitable until the broad Type Group Dissolves and separate ones like Day Gecko or Leopard Gecko are formed. Once that happens, I will dissect votes more precisely.

List updated!

Announcement: Now that the very first Exhibit Mammal has been announced, me and @DarthQuell are considering to allow all Exhibit Mammal submissions regardless of their Level of Activity, as Flight is as active as it can get. We are also thinking about increasing the Limit to the List Size in Submissions, since majority of the forum interested in this thread already used up all Available Slots in their lists. However, we decided to wait until Release Day to see exactly how the Egyptian Fruit Bat works before announcing the changes. We also decided to wait before allowing Birds on this thread, to see how Frontier will approach the case. Will all Birds be Exhibit or only Smaller Ones? So for the time being Birds still will not be allowed.

Announcement: Ok, so here's the deal. Starting with the Twilight Pack, we have decided to let Users vote for all possible Exhibit Mammals in their Lists, regardless of Level of Activity or Type of Locomotion, as long as they aren't Species that are already accepted on @random goat's Habitat Animals Meta-Wishlist. Please find the changes made to the Rules below:
  1. Since most people already used up all their available slots, we are increasing the Upper Limit to 15 Animals. Lists of 5-15 Animals will be accepted.
  2. The additional 5 Votes do not need to be Small Mammal Votes. You can distribute your Votes between Small Mammals and Traditional Exhibit Animals however you wish. The same level of flexibility applies to new Users still with 15 Votes available.
  3. Small Mammals that are already accepted on @random goat's Habitat Animals Meta-Wishlist will not be accepted.
  4. Level of Activity, Type of Locomotion or Lifestyle will not be limiting factors affecting Animal Choices. This includes all Flying, Gliding, Burrowing, Nocturnal, Diurnal, Crepuscular, Terrestrial, Arboreal and Semi-Aquatic Small Mammals. Go Wild with your choices!
  5. We have decided to not make a breakdown between Standard and Walkthrough Exhibits, as the latter is new and therefore it is hard to assess which Mammals would be Standard and which ones Walkthrough.
  6. Instead, the breakdown will be based on Taxonomy. This does not apply to Traditional Exhibit Animals, but Small Mammals will have their own Spoiler, to give them a chance to get noticed. They will also be included in the Main Spoiler.
You might have noticed that we still haven't included Birds in this Meta-Wishlist despite a Flying Animal already being added to the game in the Twilight Pack. This is because we want to wait and see how Frontier will approach the case. Will all Birds be Exhibit or will they be distributed between the Habitat and Exhibit Systems? Depending on how this topic is handled, we might allow Birds on this Thread in the future, with Additional Votes of course. Or we might decide to let them be their own thing by leaving it to other Threads, particularly the Aviary Animals Meta-Wishlist thread by @Spiderhawk. That being said, other Users are welcome to start a new Meta-Wishlist only for Walkthrough Exhibits, that could allow voting for Animals from both Habitat and Exhibit Meta-Wishlists, if they think they have a clear idea about how to make the Rules of that Thread.

1) An Exception to this Rule would be Animal Groups with representation less than ~5 Votes on the Habitat Animals Meta-Wishlist at the time of their Submission. In most cases Family is the Preferred Rank to determine if an Animal Group will be accepted. The narrowest this can go is Subfamily. To give an Example, Tamarins of any kind will not be accepted, despite some Species in this Animal Group having received less than 5 Votes. This is due to at least 1 Species in this Animal Group having received more than 5 Votes or the Total exceeds this number as an Aggregate. On the other hand Mouse Lemur, Tenrec and Elephant Shrew Species that have already received Votes on the Habitat Animal Meta-Wishlist will be accepted, since these Animal Groups did not receive as much attention (less than roughly 5 Votes) by the Community as Habitat Animals. This Limitation is to make sure the 2 Meta-Wishlists don't end up looking similar with so many Shared Species. This Method will also ensure it is the Community as a whole that defines which Animal Groups are better off as Habitat or Exhibit, rather than a single Moderator making up the Rules.

If a Species belongs to an Animal Group that surpasses this Limit, but individually has almost no Votes and is small enough, it might be allowed depending on each separate situation concerned. We recently made our Exceptions a little bit more flexible to allow votes for species like the Pygmy Marmoset. Additionally, if a Species that fits this definition gets more attention here than on Habitat Wishlists, that increases its odds of getting accepted. For example, at the time of its addition, the Pygmy Marmoset received 3 Votes here, compared to the only 1 Vote it received on both Habitat Wishlists combined. This sort of situation grabs our attention about what the Community wants for a certain animal, in terms of Enclosure Type or Game Mechanics. This alone was good enough a reason for us to include it as an Exception.

2) Another Exception is that if any Animal from an Animal Group that has originally been considered Habitat on the Habitat Animals Meta-Wishlist is later added to the game as an Exhibit Animal by Frontier, then that Animal Group will be allowed on this Thread no matter how many Votes it had initially received on the Habitat Animals Meta-Wishlist. Again, Family is usually the Preferred Rank for this Exception as well.

For the time being I think this is a good Solution to provide some Level of Flexibility to requested Exhibit Mammals. If you think there is a Species or Animal Group that still doesn't make the cut but you think should be E or WE let me know in DM. The following Packs might give us a better idea about what should or should not be Exhibit and the Community can then reconsider which Small Mammals should be voted Exhibit and which ones Habitat.

Exceptions are no longer necessary since Rule 3 is revoked.

Follow-Up Announcement: Ok, so I have seen a few Content Creator Videos on the new Walkthrough Exhibits after preparing my announcement draft and I can say that the decisions to potentially not include Birds in this Thread, as well as not making a breakdown between Standard and Walkthrough Exhibits were very on the spot. This is mainly because I saw that you can make Exhibit Walls completely invisible which tells me there is a good chance there won't be any Free-Flying Habitat Animals in the future that use Pathfinding to navigate during Flight. So, it was a good decision to potentially leave the entirety of Flying Birds to another Thread. Even if we decide to include them in this Thread at some point, they would have their own Spoiler and a completely separate Voting Pool. Not making a breakdown between Standard and Walkthrough was also very on the spot, because the invisible walls mean they can be incorporated into larger Habitats and Halls, which could even mean some of the existing Exhibit Animals like Iguanas can be modified to use both types of Exhibits. Plus we still don't know which New Animals Frontier will prefer to make Walkthrough Exhibit, other than the possibility of Flying Birds.

I think even Hybrid Animals are possible with this new system, although some of the Species would require slight modifications to the layout of the Walkthrough Exhibit to minimize or avoid contact between Guests and Animals. Some of the Smaller Semi-Aquatic Species that have trouble with Depth Requirements like the Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman and Platypus would make perfect Hybrid Animals. By Hybrid, I mean the ability to use both the Habitat and Exhibit Systems.

  1. Indian flying fox (WE)
Good that you included this Species. The reason is, I'm not too convinced the current WE will be sufficiently big enough to fit the Looped Flying Animations of Larger Megabats like the Indian Flying Fox. They have more than two times the Wingspan and ten times the Weight, so probably would need more Space to have their Looped Flying Animations to fit or they just won't loop in midair at all. However, we will still accept these Submissions on the Thread because 1) There are no such Limitations in our Rules and 2) Some Birds would also require Larger WE Exhibits, so Some Degree of Variation in Size could be added to the WE System in the future, if we don't get any Free-Flying Habitat Animals.

True, but I saw flying foxes in an aviary much smaller than the current one once many years ago at the Leon Zoo (Leon, Mexico). Boy, they stank really bad.

And yes, I'd totally hope that we get bigger sizes (although we can sorta pretend by making them null. Don't y'all feel like it's odd we have null variety when bats aren't free roaming zoo animals?)

Exactly, the Size of the Walkthrough Exhibit is more than enough for any Flying Fox. However, as explained in the Dev Blog, the actual Flight Path is much more limited in order to avoid Collision or in other words Clipping with Objects when fully decorated. So it wouldn't be possible to use the exact same Midair Animation Loop for the Flying Foxes. But that doesn't mean they must have the same Animations. There is a bunch of Options and available Space to animate them differently. Or if they really want to give them a Similar Loop, then a slightly larger version of the WE or different Decoration Combinations within the current one would be enough.

Possibilities are endless and it shouldn't be our Concern for this Thread. We received our first Exhibit Mammal as well as our first Flying Exhibit Animal, so that's what matters in the Context of this Thread and the reason I wanted to Highlight your Selection. So I hope the Flying Fox Type Group moves all the way up there for Frontier to notice and make them official. 🦇

  1. japanese cave gecko
  2. new caladonean giant gecko
Sadly I can't accept a 2nd Gecko due to the Rules of the Thread until the Gecko Type Group dissolves. For instance this is why you can submit more than 1 Bat. When the Gecko Type Group dissolves, then you can submit other Geckos if something is crossed off your List.

So I'll kindly ask you to change the Giant Gecko to something else before I update the List.

So I can add 5 new animals to get to 15? Here we go:

Only five? That's so difficult!

1) Panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis)
2) King cobra (Ophiophagus hannah)
3) Frilled lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii)
4) Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)
5) Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni)

I choose one from each continent. Unfortunately I had no space for the blue poison dart frog :(

My additional 5 votes:

6) Blue poison dart frog (Dendrobates tinctorius "azureus")
7) Reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus)
8) Tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus)
9) Philippine sailfin lizard (Hydrosaurus pustulatus)
10) Leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius)

I'm not sure if we are allowed to replace added animals, but if we can, I would like to replace the axolotl by the following:

-European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis)
11) Central bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps)
12) Green anaconda (Eunehctes murinus)
13) Common toad (Bufo bufo)
14) Plumed basilisk (Basiliscus plumifrons)
15) Indian flying fox (Pteropus medius)

1. Hellbender
2. Axolotl
3. Jackson's Chameleon
4. Leopard Gecko (or any gecko)
5. Thorny Devil (or literally any member of Amphibolurinae)
For my additional 10 votes I would like to vote for:
