Quickest Way To Increase Trade Rank?

trade man trade!!!
there are 100million/hour plus trade runs all over the place!
usually, you can go from planet to station and back for this money too.
all you have to do is look around a bit. find a product that sells in system for about 20k/tonne and go nuts.
ive got three trade routes i can run within 100ly of each other all in one system and all go from a station to the planet right on its doorstep, usually take about 10 minutes a run and net around 15 million a run. 6 of them an hour? np. thats 90 million.... and you are probably a better pilot than me!
refinery economies are a great place to start looking... add to that industry or high tech and you are looking at a solid route somewhere in that system...
or mine platinum at the double hotspot in omicron capricorni b b 1 and sell it in system for 250k/t at one of the carriers.
you will elite in a matter of days.
you can do all this in vr from your ships trade computer information, land at a station you get the systems trade info.
 
If you're in EDO the settlements can offer considerably better prices than the starports though you'd need to check they are the ++ size to land a large ship.
Faction states can have a more drastic effect here but just keep an eye out.

many commanders (and to me it seems like most) are completely unwilling to travel to planetary settlements for trade! that extra few seconds just seems to be deemed unworthy of their time.... as are many stations that are over a certain distance from the jump in point.
whether in odyssey or horizons, check planetaries... you will find deals galore.
 
or fdev could fix the trading as its been ed since the new up date I've taken a t9 full of minned cargo got 12mil and got one percent in my trade rank I then filled up my cargo with low buy mats and made 2mil prof and still no change on my trade rank

for 10 points.... a profitable trade route which is really profitable on both legs. . I tend to find a good 1 way route but end up doing the return leg empty which I just don't find satisfying. any hints of getting a good too way trade route would be appreciated even if each run is not the "best"

are there any good multi route trade loops? I would love to have really long multi stop route with each route being worth while.

back in the day when I was in a T6 or asp the rares run was just that once you got going but it does not scale well. would love something like that that I could do in my T9.

Yeah, with Horizon planetary bases. I mean what's profitable? Margins were still shyte and it'd mean thousands of runs to get anywhere but they were profitable back then. Just not really worth much. Best stuff was medical items to some BGS state I dont remember anymore. Outbreak maybe? And the planetary stuff mining, ressource bases could feature the radioactive stuff - Thorium? Which had a good default margin for trading to the right demander.

I'm sure there was more "profitable" routes, but I never found anything useful in the vanilla game. Not for the cargo capacity we could equip on our ships.
 
As a slight aside, if you don't desperately want everything now, Now, NOW!!! then you can use the trade missions in a station to work on the BGS so you can create a favorable trade situation for yourself in a couple of systems that you particularly like (personal preference, easy station distance, good equipment, out of the way, nice views, whatever) by bringing them to Boom status. This can also be combined with gaining IMP. or FED rank at the same time if that's your thing.

After a while you'll have a couple of systems that you can trade between with the local fuzz on your side if you need them and lots of options for doing other missions as you run your normal trades.

there are litterally hundreds of the 10 point routes in the game...
look for refinery economies, one of the surface settlements will be silling silver. one of the oribitals will be buying silver. generally its worth around 15k/t profit, and often you can trade something back down (usually bertrandite at about 5k/t profit). when i do these runs in my t9 i make about 15 million per run... and i know a couple systems where the runs are less than 10 minutes both ways.... so thats around 100 million an hour. thats pretty profitable.
ive even gone as far as stocking the refinery station so that it will increase production and storage capacity, that way multiple commanders can run the route together without exhausting it... wing up for +5% of each others profits!
as for the multi hop routes... i cant be bothered. when there is 100 million an hour to be made in system, why would i want to jump around? if i find a lucrative route that covers multiple systems i will use my carrier for that.... but it would have to be VERY lucrative... like a couple weeks ago when gold was 5k/t at a certain station, i filled up several times there.
 
the kinds of routes i use dont often show up on inara, since they are not trading from low low prices to super high prices. they are in the middle of the margin, but they are often WAY more profitable than the ones inara lists.
all the tools required to find them are in game too, and actually more accurate than inara. the only thing that doesnt get displayed is "demand" but that number is not always finite.

Sometimes it results in looping back on yourself, but after a while I feel the need to visit a port I've never been to before. This always kept trading fresh as no two ports are are exactly the same and every now and then I'll find a stunning location, especially on surface ports.

yeah not everyone is after the same experience in this game... this seems to be a difficult thing for many commanders to understand lol, but its true. i love the space trucker feeling i get from running 50+ loads in a day up from a planet to the nearby orbital... and i love stocking stations to make them produce more. profits be damned, i dont need the cr. and i would be forever trying to spend the ones i have. time to figure out what i can make happen instead.
