Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

For me, I was simply low on credits. Having just bought the Fleet carrier, I had about 200 million in the fleet carrier account and only 90 million on me. I just needed some quick credits to get the carrier up to a half billion or so and leave me with a couple hundred million just in case I screw up and lose a ship or something.

That way I can get back out to the black and stay for a while without having to worry about grinding any credits for the next 5 or 6 months.

A few hours grind for several months of peace of mind is well worth it to me.

I like to mix it up. Some short jump rounds (<20ly/jump), couriering data or delivering goods, then some trips (max jump range of ship used) from Suhte to Deciat and/or Wolf 396 to get another ship upgraded. Sometimes, I even stay in Suhte or jump over to Khun for some material collecting.
When I'm transporting commodities for CGs, I like to go 7 jumps full and 6 jumps back empty, which is close to the limit of my cargo hauler T9 w/o fuel scoop...

That I can scooby-dooby-doo all day without getting bored...

I concur...

Dear Commanders @Marvin the Martian and @thinder,

I have been watching your argument over the so called "Robigo (Mine?) Run", thinking: "There is something wrong here."
It took me a while to recognize what it was.

You are BOTH doing it wrong!

Yes, you both took a wrong turn. Once you turned the way of greed and self-optimization, you went down a rabbit hole. Only this one does not lead to the land of Oz. This one leads to a way darker place. One that almost managed to kill me IRL.

Once you went thinking "There must be a way to squeeze more credits out of this.", you killed the fun in the game for some profit. Yes, those ships (or even worse: carriers) are expensive. But, is it really necessary to have them all at once (so to speak)? Is it not more rewarding to buy a new ship / equip a new module to your carrier if you had some fun while earning those credits?
The thing is, you need 6 billion+ to comfortably buy a fleet carrier. If you really want to have fun with a fleet carrier, you need to find a way to get the credits as fast as possible if you want a carrier in a few months instead of a few years.
I didn't do much in the way of Robigo runs for the credits for my carrier. I had the better fortune to be building the credit balance during the time there were a lot of community goals for hauling commodities to stations that were paying 30K to 45K per ton which is way better than the 25K to 30K on a good day you can get for regular trading. I got to do all this in the glorious Cutter and the process was somewhat involving because you had to keep searching for new markets with the required commodity. I also like the fact I 'helped' build the Colonia bridge while earning between 1.5 and 2 billion credits.
I did a variety of things for credits, but I also did a lot, and I mean a lot, of the same thing to get the credits.
You cam also haul cargo or passengers at the same time as doing something else productive while sat at the computer table.

If you get it into your head you want a carrier, you will do something profitable repeatedly or wait years to get the credits.
For some people, credits per hour is a measure of success - keeping score, in the game. The fun is, what can I do to earn credits faster in this sandbox galaxy I have to play in?

Well, this is fun.

I've selected a CZ that's on a planet that is really close to where the Frontline chappy. Now my dropship keeps dropping from orbital cruise on the source planet as it's too shallow... ahh, computer programs, eh?.

EDIT: And, yep, the CZ itself is bugged...

EDIT 2: My only out after killing the opposing faction was to call in an Apex. And of course, I booked the wrong return location. Disembarked, ran a bit, saw the taxi go, and lo and behold, scavs came from nowhere. Barely made it away - I was not prepared! Still, my Remlock is still intact.

Dear, dear, dear.

I agree with this too.
With Universal Cartographics on your carrier out in the black, it's easy enough earn the weekly carrier maintenance credits in exploration data sales - probably a few times over if you play daily..

You're more than welcome to volunteer your hard owned credit so that I don't do anything wrong.

Something else, the Carrier is only one part of the cost, after that you still have to add extra services and fuel the beast, considering the developers have nerfed Tritium mining, I don't see how we can rely on mining only to top up its tank.

In passing I have also purchased half a dozen new ships (not including replacing those I had to sell in Colonia to fund the return trip because there is no source of Tritium at market price there), and engineered all of them, they don't show in my fleet because I test them and then sell those I don't want to keep, but here is a list (post Carrier aquisition):

Eagle Mk II. Imperial Eagle. Imperial Courier. Federal Gunship. Alliance Chieftain. Vulture. Diamondback Explorer. Keelback. Type-7 Transporter. Type-9 Heavy. Imperial Cutter. Beluga Liner.

Since you're in charity buziness and prefer to work for the lowest wage possible, I'll expect your contribution which is 390.812.110Cr in ships only, I'll pass the amount of Carrier fuel needed to travel to places in order to get the material needed (1,570.19 LY from home base) and engineer new ships with short ranges. Thanks in advance.

So tell me again what I've done wrong adding a Luxury cabin to my Beluga Liner...

I'm heading back to my base in Deciat now and currently have 124 jumps to go. I want to flog all the exploration and exobiology data I have (and still getting, on my way back) then try out some on-foot CZ.

When I was in the Hawking's Gap Region my FSSS detected some "nonhuman signatures," but after thinking about it, didn't go to investigate in case me carrying a damaged Thargoid sensor around with me might cause them to attack me and destroy my ship at some point. I guess that probably wouldn't happen but I have no idea if it's a risk or not.

I decided to give the Robigo run a try.

My first thought was that I'd refit my Python, but it's already set up nicely for cargo hauling to Medium pads.

So I decided to just buy another one instead.

It turns out I had just enough mats to buy a double-engineered FSD, so that worked out well. I spent a bit of time on the new ship, painted it red, and called it Red Rider.

When I got to Robigo Mines I found that I was not allied with one of the mission givers (although I am allied with Sirius Corp). So my payouts were a bit reduced because of that. It won't take long to become allied, though. I'm already Friendly and I've only done a couple of runs so far.

Even so I made 43 million in just those 2 runs, plus I got a few grade 5 mats as well.

I did have enemies sent after me, but I was able to just evade the interdictions, or jump away before they happened. No one tried to scan me anywhere.

So yeah, it was actually pretty fun, and now I have another way to make some nice credits.

Thanks for the great info on this :)

This is the loadout I went with. It seemed to work fine for me.

I can't remember the last time I was interdicted doing Robigo runs. It's been quite a while.

The one thing that does happen occasionally is I get back to Robigo Mines and it's full up so you have to sit there for a minute or two for a ship to leave before you can dock. That happens once every few hours or so.

I'm digging the red Python. Since both of mine are blue I might change one over to the red and yellow Hazard scheme.

2.0 was the first version of Horizions, like 7 years ago. Released on December 15th, 2015 for PC (and June 2016 for consoles). If you're talking about 4.0 (= Horizons, Odyssey version) or Odyssey then yes, that's what Odyssey does.

If you have Odyssey, you can officially choose between base game (whatever version), Horizons 3.8 and Odyssey.
If you don't have Odyssey, you can officially choose between base game, Horizons 3.8 and Horizons 4.0.
Unofficially, you can apparently also select Horizons 4.0 if you do have Odyssey through a command line option.

You don't need to uninstall Odyssey if you want to go material harvesting the old way, you just need to start into Horizons 3.8 from the Launcher.
I tried but I couldn't uninstall it, which is what I do when a game or update is pushing my patience to the limit.

So I'm back with the release 3.8, at least, I know where to go and find my materials, now, there are bugs and triggers in every games, which makes me think that developers have been changing a few things on how the game respond to players.

Best examples: A Cutter will get banged around stations by autodock regularly, not so much an Anaconda, by experience I flew hundred of Pasenger Missions with the Conda), so when it started doing that after I got rid of the shields and added an extra cabin, I knew it was wrong, the ship behavior changed, the absense of shield is the trigger.

In the case of Passenger missions, for as long as they are available from any station, there is no reason to believe that you'll end up in detention after a fine, more to it, that this kind of game behavior is gonna be extended to station from where you have done hundred of missions previously without issues. There change of station is the trigger.

This leads me to conclude that after nerfing mining, developers also have introduced this sort of triggers so as to limit the amount of credit one can make and create ceilings, if they start going after the trade market and son on, we're in for a dire time.

Now, the change of what is available from 3.8 to Odyssey doesn't really encourage me to upgrade but if I still can farm my material in 3.8 once Odyssey is installed it won't bother me, I regularly engineer new ships and more to the point, need to feed my Corvette weaponry, Multi-cannon and Seeker Missile Racks need material for synthesis.

So some players are gonna suggest I use other weapons, no thanks I love my choices, and I don't think that this trend of nerfing stuff in the game makes it better, even if I'm dealing with high end vehicles and such, I'm still working harder than most newbies to get what I want...
