Stowed reloading

Could someone please explain how this mod actually works?

I'm either:

a) Misunderstanding what it's doing (this is the most likely answer) or
b) bugged (unlikely)

From what I can see here (and in the game description):


... a weapon should reload itself whilst "holstered" and the amount of times it will reload depends on the suit ammo capacity - which my current suit has. However, I empty the weapon, switch to my other gun then, when that runs dry, swap back to the gun with stowed reloading.

But it is still empty.

I don't get it so could a bigger brain enlighten me please? :D

Well, it's not instant (I think it takes 5 seconds). So if you're swapping too soon, it won't work.

It's a useful mod, because it will do a partial reload of a half-empty clip, so you always start each fight with a full clip (if you've given it enough time).

I wonder if it only works while you have all weapons stowed? I haven't tested that. I have it on all my weapons, but I typically let it "do its thing" while I'm moving between fights with weapons stowed.

Interesting. I'll try it out but that seems like a bad move in a CZ :D

No that's not it. My secondary always gets reloaded while I have my primary out.

If it's a bug, it could be because both his primaries Aphelions. Maybe the game checks if a weapon is stowed by its name? 🤷‍♂️😅

This is not ok.
There are either server/connection issues or something else is happening.

I have stowed reloading on almost all my weapons. My current setup on the migrated account is P-15 and Aphelion, and i heavily rely on stowed reloading so when swapping weapons i always have a full magazine.
Reloading time is about the same if you reload manually or if you stow the weapons - that is several seconds.
 
I guess try not using 2 of the same weapons, just to test it? Cuz it's always worked flawlessly for me with my pistol (Tormentor) and shotgun (Intimidator). They are always reloaded when I pull one out or switch weapons.
 
A silly thought: are you sure you had the ammo for the gun to be reloaded while stowed?

Not trying to offend one's intelligence, just basic troubleshooting! 😊
Yeah, I suspect OP might be running right through all the gun's ammo (due to the mention of it taking 30-40 seconds to empty the other gun) and expecting it to be fully resupplied...
The mod only saves you having to manually reload the current magazine, you're still limited by the same total ammo capacity.

2 of the same has nothing to do with the issue from OP

I, and many others, consistently used 2x L-6, both with Stowed reloading and Increased magazine size (+2 other mods) as a setup for fast clearing High CZ
 
OK, I've done some thinking and, after reading these responses, I believe it's my expectation of what the mod actually does.

What I'm now realising is that, with the first gun (Aphelion) - the one that has stowed reloading - it has a total of 255 shots (which you can only just see). I emptied it out, then switched to the Eclipse and emptied that. Switching back to the Aphelion, as you can see, the mag is empty.

So...

Once the 255 shots are gone, they are gone. But if I only had say 100 shots left on the Aphelion then stowed and switched, switching back would reload those 100 back into the gun.

I think that's how it works so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, looks like you've understood the problem correctly. When emptying the Aphelion, those pauses to replace the cartridge thing are the reloading cycle. With stowed reloading you could switch to another weapon instead of waiting for that animation to play, but your suit's total supply of reloads is the same.

You might be thinking, this mod doesn't do very much. And for Aphelion I'd say you're right. The reload cycle on the laser weapons is pretty quick. Use a plasma or rocket build, on the other hand, and you'll come to really appreciate being able to keep firing through those veeery loooong reload animations.
