Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hi All :)

Okay, thoroughly tee'd off and tired out with my attic / loft clearance....where did all that stuff come from!? 🫣...making some headway though, some stuff to the tip, other stuff needs thinking about... (an Amiga 1200, and a Commadore 64, !'d forgotten they were still up there, plus cardboard boxes filled up with games for both...my Frontier Elite 2 boxed game for the Amiga though I will never ever...ever...ever... sell, so there! 🤪
Anyway, time to put the kettle on and I've just booted up the game.😌

My CG contribution has slipped from 50% to 75%...drat!, looks like I'm heading back to the bubble sometime tonight. 🙁
For now though....some more mined Osmium! :)

Jack :)
The Amiga and C64 are worth quite a lot if working properly.
I don't think i ever played Elite 2, but i did play the first Elite (somewhat) and First Encounters, (quite a bit).

Take your time - seems like FD have (again ) moved the goalposts, so Inara now predicts the end one day before the offical end in three weeks.
My 20k are still good enough to keep me safely above the 75% boundary - but with three more weeks to go, I won't make any predictions.

The Mandalay transported a convoy of my Corsair, Krait, and Type-8 up to Selene for any hull engineering they needed. I didn't realise you couldn't engineer module reinforcements. That made me sad. ;_;

I picked up a very lightly refitted poor man's Panther along the way via Shinrarta. The Type-9 flies like the biggest pig you've ever seen, it's obviously heavily restricted by pad size, and an interdiction evasion with a Fed Assault ship NPC was like a battle to the death. Though its one test got me £28M in steel profit, which is near double that I get from the Type-8, and I didn't even think about its size while docking so that wasn't an issue. Except for my initial departure at Jameson where I scratched the paintwork. Probably because I nodded off while waiting for it to reach the mailslot.

With all that said, I prefer flying the Type-8.

Hi :)

Back in the bubble again, some more hauling to Starlace Terminal, then back out mining. (It's only a couple of carrier jumps outside the bubble...quite handy, and no pirates).
I've got quite a good haul of platinum, palladium, gold and osmium, so perhaps I'll be able to pick up some sourcing missions for those as I'm delivering titanium and cmm's.
A traders old saying... (at least this old trader) "Never let your cargo hold be empty!" 🙏...:D

Jack :)

Hi All :)

Geeze!....🥱....just finished dropping off my last load of titanium, so I'm back in the 50% plus (or minus depends how you look at it) Tier for the CG...and it's now just past 2. 50 am. 😴
What really made this game session go into 'extra time' was the penalty shoot out with the damn carriers 'bug transfer of cargo to ship', again ...It keeps rearing it's head after every update or so it seems.
Example...I'd transferred some titanium to the ship. That went ok, then I transferred over some Osmium and Palladium, clicked transfer confirm and off to Minerva I went.
At Starlace (I keep seeing the name as Starface for some obscure reason) I sell off the titanium, then selected missions and got ready to unload the palladium and osmium that I'd needed to complete the missions....whut! 😲...empty cargo hold, not a nugget of palladium or osmium in sight. 👀
I do more or less the same thing again after I docked back to my carrier...this time though I double check the transferred cargo. Yes, it transferred some more titanium again ok but when I transferred the palladium and osmium, clicked confirm, they ended up back in the carrier, except for the titanium.😒
Realising that the transfer bug was back again in the game (🤬) I transferred the palladium and osmium incrementally, instead of transferring it all at once. This eventually restored the correct amount I needed into my ships cargo hold. I double checked the full amount again and off I jolly well trotted to Minerva.

Well, okay I had about 8 hours or so left to do the missions, but I don't like leaving missions generally with less than 10 hours left on them, I've been caught out before on that one. ;)
So, that's it!...I'm off to bed! ...see's ya' all sometime tomorrow. :D
Good night. 🌛

Jack :)

I made Rank 34 in Powerplay today, which unlocks the Prismatic Shield, which is what I was aiming for.

It didn't take too long, and I enjoyed the process. More stuff gets unlocked later, but it's the Prismatics that I can make use of.

Plus, my Alt is now a billionaire, with over 1.2 billion in assets (including a free credit balance of 709 million).

Life sure is easy for these newcomers :p

I would probably try any system within one or two loaded jumps of Minerva rather than try and shoehorn into a system with around 130 FCs already in it.
Took this reasonable advice, found a parking spot one system away, and will take my time over the next couple weeks dropping off a load or two at a time in between doing other things, like maintaining the favour of my Princess. Fingers crossed next week's assignments have some non-settlement stuff because that stuff just isn't very fun to me!

Tempting. It seems like you had to put in a decent amount of time though.

I'm not a fan of the asymmetrical cockpit design but I do like the fact that the Type-11 is a medium miner (I assumed large). It could be the perfect compliment to the Type-8.
