Forum closing?

Well that ain't quite true is it? They gave us a heads up well before it's actually closing. We are still able to have this conversation on here ;)

I get your point on steam, it's a way bigger company I just wanted to mention there is always a risk of a platform shutting down for whatever reason. I can't take your worry away as I don't have a crystal ball that can predict the future but there is no reason at all to worry about the future of the workshop at this very moment. And like I said before, if there are items you really can't miss out on, make sure you store them locally as well.
Well yes, 6 days in advance is when they told us. And sorry to break it to you, shutting down a forum is not something you decide to do from today to tomorrow. This was probably already decided weeks if not even months before.

And all good, i dont need anyone to confirm or deny my worries. My point was just to throw it in there on why we should have gotten a steam workshop instead of their own platform. Because of this very reason also, that it can get shutdown anytime, and that the chances are higher than if it was steam

Frontier is changed more so than many of those who play it's games I think.
Well yes because they're a company that needs to evolve in a market that fluctuates constantly and has gone through three major turbulent times in the previous 10 years. Whereas players just consume the media they want. (and often demand direct communication to all of their questions, while simultaneously deriding any actions that a company take that they deem contradicts something previously said, even if that thing was 13 years ago ;) )

I do disagree with your comment about other new release titles not being as involved as PC. But regardless even if you just look at all of the world building games that have released, and there's been some really good indepth ones. Valheim is the only one I know of that has a forum. The reason we're here is because when Elite and PC1 launched Discord was not around/in it's infancy (respectively).

Assuming of course that they would shut down the workshop and yet keep the game up for sale? Which would be an incredibly unlikely scenario. And it if was removed from sale, then it would be removed from Steam anyway.

The forum where the users put all found news in before, won't be available...
This ^^^ This forum has been an amazing source of all information from the community, whether it be discovering new bugs, finding things that seem to be missing, discovering new fixes or other additions that may not have been explicitly mentioned. All news, good and bad, has been able to be compiled within this forum and it has been an amazing resource for players like me that don't have much free time as it is to go around looking within the game and other platforms for all the progress. I've loved this genre since my first days playing Sawyer's original RCT and hope to try to keep the passion for alive but this forum closing is going to definitely hamper it.

But most of those big new release games are nothing like Planet Coaster2, 1 or PZ. Most of them don't involve the same level of sharing of creations individual players make. There's a far higher level of creativity involved, it's not just moving around in a pre-made world shooting at stuff or performing certain tasks. It involves creating most of that world itself. Those games don't always require the same opportunities that forums provide the players of Planet games often do.

Yes, there are people who are satisfied with just building a coaster, and have no interest in building an actual park. There are some people who only are interested in performing whatever actions are required in a scenario, 'winning' it and going no further. Discord may well work for them.

But there are also people who spend months, even years, working on massive projects that create realistic theme park environments. They share their work and gather feedback usually in dedicated forum threads that they update fairly regularly. I'd argue that they often make up the backbone of the community as more casual players come and go, and they strengthen the community because they are there. Frontier doesn't seem to see that, just as they seem unable to see many other things lately.
Also this ^^^ I am one that is very much detailed oriented and enjoy designing my park from the ground up in every little detail so coming here and discovering new ideas and being able to interact and discuss with this community in a very straight forward simplified setting has been absolutely amazing. I've seen a lot of 'This is being done to censor the critics' in this thread and I sincerely hope that is not the case. Yes I've seen negative posts and I've also been critical at times with things but I don't want to believe that silencing is the reason for this decision. Honestly I have no idea why FDev has chosen to go this route as only speculation can be done by anyone outside of the company but I do know that, as I've said before, this choice is going to alienate me and I suspect many others. I personally despise using discord and so try to stay away from it. With social media, I only have a Facebook account that I've had for decades since my college years and rarely use it. My job deals with a lot of sensitive information so it's one of many reasons why I choose to avoid social media so I can protect myself - both not posting and also not seeing all the public reactions to what I have to deal with locally every day. My work also means I have a lot of long hours and the (yet another) schedule change means I won't be able to watch the Unlocked live anymore so yet another opportunity to interact is gone. This forum was my one trusted go to space to keep my joy of these sim games going, a place I can actually browse through at work when it's slow, and a place to feel a part of a wonderful group of amazing passionate people that many I recognize from titles past... shyguy's world.. wagi bear... so many inspiring contributions of ideas that now I will be cut off from. I'm truly heartbroken now and will miss you all.

I can. This one 😁.

I think so for me too, but that's because some game forums either don't exist now or they are dead compared to other options such as reddit.

One thing i don't do for games when looking for info though is look for their Discord. Its off to Google and start the search with "reddit".

There's a bit of a chicken and egg here, because forums are not much use these days because developers are moving away from them because users are moving away from them because developers....

That's a bit uncalled for don't you think? Just because you don't see them posting all the time doesn't mean they don't look here.

If people think they've ignored the forums you are very wrong. They do more work then you will ever know and it's an insult to think, or say, otherwise. I've been doing this for almost 7 years, trust me I know.
A bit unfair??? Theres that "we can say what we like but you must stay in line or get warnings" i was talking about!

We havnt seen chantal w in this forum in months, if at all. I would say the comment was very fair indeed!

Unfortunately there's been very little evidence of the devs looking at the feedback on here as we've been reporting the same glitches over and over for months, which are still currently present in the game.

We've also had very little feedback from anyone at Frontier on these forums since the game launched, so I don't think it's unfair to assume they don't bother to read this stuff.

So we have 186 pages of expired issues.
21 pages confirming
44 pages confirmed
41 of acknowledged issues

Compare that to a laughable 39 pages only of fixed issues. This is peak evidence of your horrible bug fixing record. And most of the issues there were things we have also talked about here on the forums. So not only did you get issues reported as youve asked us to do, you also had countless threads here explaining and showing exactly how these bugs were happening and how they were affecting our experience.

Then we have the countless threads pointing out missaligned pieces, missing pieces or pieces with broken textures. Staff issues have also regurarly been reported here since release.
Yet for some reason basically nothing happened to all these reported issues.
We havent even seen a single post saying „we have passed on that feedback“. And steam forums where we got atleast sometimes an answer, fast forward some months and still nothing happened.

Add to that the horrible issues that are evidence for the complete lack of quality control. Coaster cars not pivoting correctly, wheel chassis beeing completely static, horrible LOD and so on.

All of this feedback has always been delivered directly to you frontier. Either trough your issue tracker or forum posts here. We are nearing the 1 year mark of this games release, yet we havent gotten anything groundbreaking apart from stuff getting added back in and some eyecandy with no depth like restaurants and souvenir shops. Even those are only halfbaked, no menu item variation, no souvenir gifts for all themes available.

And based on my comparison between planco 1 megaparks and planco 2 megaparks, the perfomance isnt realy any better than the first game when it comes to operating under high load. Not only that, now we even have perfomance degradation over longer playsessions because apparently something is bugged with the guests and i guess that keeps building up putting more load on the games calculations, resulting in as much as 10 fps less than when you started the game 2 hours ago.

So yeah, i do make the bold assumptions based on my experience so far and how all if this makes me feel, frontier just didnt listen to our feedback or is very nitpicky about it.

I cant wait for the unlocked stream tomorrow, which for me personally will be the deciding factor if im even gonna continue playing this game or just shelve it for a year 1 or 2. (cant wait for youtubers to blame my lack of interest on my attention span lol).

Dear frontier, you either fix your game or you accept the fact that you are slowly but steadily killing this game, alienating your core community and you will never reach the full potential that this project actually has.

Ive played rct 3 up untill planco 1 first allha release, then i played planco 1 for 3.5 hours over its lifecycle up untill planco 2 was announced. Having the game come out so shortly after announcement already raised huge red flags for me, a lot of information torwards the new features and such was very lacking, even more redflags. I decided to go ahead and give frontier the benefit of the doubt, i trusted frontier to not go down the same route as other devs. Yet i realise 10 months after the games release, that this nowhere close the frontier i once admired, loved and appreciated.

Im leaving this forum sad, frustrated and disappointed. And yes maybe even a bit angry, angry at how frontier is failing to grasp the games full potential and/or deliverin on their promises and updates. Angry at how frontier fails to fix the most simple stuff and overlook the most obvious bugs introduced with each update

I've been using Discord for years but I don't use the Frontier Unlocked Discord, or any of the other larger ones for that matter...once you get above a certain number of people posting, near simultaneously, its really really hard to keep up AND everyone it talking about something different within the same channel. I've used Discord's threads, they only last for a few days and then they're just gone...yes, I'm aware there is a setting to keep them permanently, but they are just so disorganized compared to the forums...

The forums are more like a newspaper/magazine, whereas Discord is more like the trading floor on the stock exchange...

I honestly don’t blame them for closing it down. I’ve stopped visiting the PC2 forum because it’s just people complaining about the same things every day. Nobody is adding anything new to the discussions. As a fan, I’m tired. I can only image how they feel.

In my honest opinion, your take is completely delusional and ignorant. Nobody forced you to use the feedback section and read trough it. There was plenty of threads with wishlists and other stuff that wssnt related to criticism.
And on the topic of criticism, we always posted our issues as this is literally the idea of a feedback forum. Stop trying to blame us for frontiers faults and errors.

Extreme negativity and hostility is another problem in those forums. Thanks for reminding me.

says the guy simply labeling all feedback and suggestions posted here as „people complaining about the same things everyday“ 😂😂😂🤷🏽‍♂️

I mean on an honest note, why dont you explain what you mean with „adding anything new to the discussion“? Or are you just trying to frame us? Because if frontier hasnt managed to fix the dice coaster cars clipping into each other since release, what else am i supposed to add in new there? If staff is still getting stuck everywhere, what am i supposed to add new into that discussion? Theres literally a reason why we keep repeating the same issues, because frontier is not delivering

It doesn't help having arguments...

But most of the negative feedback here is because of Frontier's missing quality control (I don't need to repeat all long-time or new issues brought with updates).
Many people here were helping and pointed out all issues they've found. That was a lot of effort!
Frontier mostly ignored it and wasn't willing to give comments to them...
Not even a little "thank you, guys", but a lot of "use the issue tracker!"
