I heard the one in Interstellar was supposed to be quite realistic.

I might be alright with them adding in the occasional accretion disk around black holes. Gameplay? How about not dying, if you're lucky and skilled enough? :)

About those dark spike things - they remind me a lot of the ice "asteroids" in the accretion disk from "Titan A.E.". About the Krait's HUD colours/shapes - we were already told mining would have its own HUD (which is when it's shown). That's (probably) all this is; hoping for customisable HUD...

In a very strict sense, yes. Since one cannot fly into a black hole and take direct measurements and report them back, exploration of black holes remains interestingly an inherintly unscientific endeavor. However the question is, do you consider exploring it mathematically scientific? If so...

You seem to forget the acceleration gradient near such objects. Tidal forces are real nasty near stellar BH. Rotating BH that frame drag should also be anything but boring when using a frame shift drive near them...

Whats the difference between an accretion disk, and rings? Hrm... I guess with an accretion disk, you'd expect it to be a lot larger, and I suppose it would consist of gas, as much as harder matter. And maybe, as its getting pulled into a hot body, you'd expect it to be hot, maybe even starting...

Also, a ring system isn't the same thing as an accretion disk. An accretion disk is a mass of matter spiralling into the event horizon of a black hole.

It could also be a ring of matter falling into a proto-star, which is what this brown dwarf can be considered. So I hold true to my original description. I found a brown dwarf with an accretion disk.
