I have so many unclaimable care packages that it breaks the UI and as soon as I try to collect one it glitches out and freezes. The only way to recover is to log out to main menu and reenter the game. Trying to collect another care package results in the same freaked out UI and lockup.

Yeah, same story.. when I try to access the packages the in game menu system freezes although I can escape out and quit/restart. Surely, it would make more sense to make one large package rather than listing a squidillion small packages with identical titles. Pfft. Did you get the problem...

What is, approximately, the limit of having UI broken for care packages?

...mats fill up and the packages stay half-redeemed. After a lot of bartender/material trader visits I managed to get rid of all my mini-care packages from the first 100 levels on my main, but it was a chore and it will only get worse with regular care packages. Even without the sorting bug...

Yep, getting this now. I've waited awhile to see if it just needed time to process loading them all. But haven't seen it unlock. Escape works to get to the game window. Jumping out to the main menu and back in the game works again. As long as I don't open the care package page again.

My last two care package ranks, instead of it saying what I am getting it just gave an error, and the care packages never arrived.

The problem is the sheer scale of it all. Imagine 3000 or so regular PP2.0 cmdrs all levelling up powerplay getting care packages by the 100s if not 1000s now, mostly unopened due to mats capped!

...and all their assets, the sheer scale ⚖️ I don't think fdev anticipated this & the sheer volume of data is just too much. Secondly the care packages stacked up by PP2.0 cmdrs above ranks of 200+, most of these packages remain either partly used or just unopened due to cmdrs maxed in mats...

That's it. I'm on rank 20 and I see that the messages for both 19 and 20 are both corrupted. Thanks to you and everyone who replied.

Wake scanning (using a fast wake scanner) combined with picking up 750 cps every half hour if you factor in 2 care packages gives about 20k of merits give or take. But it's boring !

I found a simple answer is get a bug where the care packages occasionally only give you an error code. 🙃

I don’t mind having lots of ship materials held in packages. I’ll get them when I need them. My issue with it is filling my Odyssey assets with various bits. That’s a single pool. It would be ideal if you could select the item you want to take out of the care packages.

That becomes a terrible grind if you're ranking say 10 levels a day. I used to do the same but got fed up with running to the bartender and flying to mat traders, so I've accepted not being able to cash in care packages and hoping for a fix some day.

At the very least, can the care packages be numbered or identified in some way? So I know which is which?

Ah, that could be. When i maxed out on mats and care packages started backing up, I started selling Odyssey mats via my FC. Amazing how quickly they went, including stuff I personally never found a use for, but maybe its stuff that's used for engineer unlocks or engineering i never did. One...

I'm now at the point that the power contact UI locks up when I open the care packages section. The other ship panels still work, but I can't collect any packages or leave the power contant UI. Looks like I was a bit too busy. However, I believe the simple (read: not easy to code :) solution...

o7 everyone. It's been more than a week, I can't access my care packages. It's completely broken, packages do not load and I have to relog to exit the menu. I'm actually rank 600+ with Aisling Duval, and there's maybe 500-550 packages in there. So... it would be a good idea to rework the care...

Last time I went to empty my care packages of foot mats, because care packages can only be claimed in the ship and foot mats can only be sold at the bartender on foot, I had to make four round trips from my ship to the bar to get rid of them. God only knows how many trips it would take to clear...

You can collect the care packages at the Power contact menu. (Some are bugged like the one for e.g. rank 20, these won't show up.)

1. You still need merits to move your power's progress bar. 2. You get care packages for every level after 100. Not sure what's inside, probably just more credits & mats than mini care packages.

Also will there be a "open all care packages" button, or combining all opened packages... or even just showing which ones are open so I don't need to hunt for the ones I have yet to?

It's too much of a pain to do that, at least for me. I've resigned myself to no longer having access to care packages, as I'm not going to waste time running to the bartenders and mat traders all the time.

I don't really see any reason not to do something like this because otherwise, why go to all that effort in the first place? PP2 has care packages for effort- why not stations and keeping them aligned?

...late September this year and didn't have much materials stocked up. Even then, not even above rank 100, I can't even claim around 30 care packages unless I trade some materials because they just contain 5 of a material I am topped up on. And that's a big problem when it takes up the same...

Care packages should be fun and interesting rewards, not a replacement for grinding. Aim higher.

Yeah, the current mechanism seems creaky for Cmdrs who already have lots of stuff. Perhaps just have a single care package, and new rewards are added to that rather than creating separate packages each time? Using the care package tops up anything it can, as now, and leaves the rest for another...

I agree. Care packages should be optional as a cash only reward or materials for those who need them. I'm maxed out on just about every material in the game. I would also find a (discard) option to be fine after you collect the 500,000 credits. I have to do a daily mat trader run just to juggle...
