I look forward to the day when there'll be new CQC matches. Please see below for the situation, specifics, personal and community solutions:
The situation:
CQC came out 5.5 years ago (edit - 6 years ago now) in Oct 2015 as an MVP.
It was then put on Steam but pulled as there wasn't enough...
It's probable that my original post on Reddit hasn't gone anywhere because the ideas are bad and misguided. Or it might simply be that the general Elite population has written off CQC as a dead feature that should be left alone to die in peace. I am hopeful that once Odyssey launches some TLC...
Base winnings after a game of CQC should be like 5m credits, 4m for second, 3m for third, etc. 6th and lower all get the same 500k. Bonus payouts for any of the special commendations during a match and more payouts for rank increases.
Of course there are a ton of other really simple things...
The upcoming September content reveal has a banner featuring a CQC outpost. Any ideas what content frontier might be planning to reveal on this front?
There have been features I've wanted in the effort to revitalize CQC for some time now. Those are:
Allow purchase of unlocked CQC ships in...
ED has one of the best cockpit experiences ever, if not the all-time top one.
I know it's been requested many times before, but a one-player CQC/Arena mode using AI opponents is not only fitting, it's almost a crime that such an intense offline "arcade" type of experience does not exist --...
Didn't Frontier once offer CQC as a separate game called Arena? Well here is an idea - Frontier should modify that game code to offer a Battle Royale mode (it's all the rage) while keeping the team mode, and release it as free-to-play. Frontier would make their $$$ with the ability to purchase...
It bugs me how a different gamemode is considered 'dead' by the community. I have played CQC a few times, I am currently Level 25 and it's honestly not a bad gamemode but I can see why it's not for everyone. So I came up with a few ideas on how Arena can be improved and be fun for everyone in...
Something I can't help thinking is 90% there, but missing the vital 10% still. CQC.
I really believe that CQC is so close to being exactly the kind of 'mini-game' that FD / E:D can really benefit from. It makes no sense to ignore it beyond time and money - I know. Particularly after the...
PART 1: Arena
Arena was, and can still be, a very fun aspect of ED. The fast paced fighter combat was something similar to what you would find in a Star Wars battle at the end of Return of the Jedi. Players loved the competitive aspect that many thought ED was lacking. However, it became...
CQC might be more popular if there where maps where you complete a simple objective. something like one team defends a reactor core and the other team tries to destroy it. or having 2 capital ships duking it out and you fly the fighters trying to disable the enemy ship or destroy all its...
